Why Don’t We Care More About God’s Will?

When the subject of faithful adherence to the fullness of God’s word is discussed, often the focus is on the feelings or sentiments of people rather than God.
Additionally, we frequently hear people putting their trust in what God will understand about people neglecting His will rather than hearing about how we should faithfully seek to do the will of God.
Why don’t we care more about God’s will?

Two Ideas That Must Be Seen In Proportion:

We are to care about the feelings of others and try to accommodate ourselves to them when we can.
In dealing with unbelievers (1 Cor. 9:19-23).
1 Corinthians 9:19–23 NKJV
19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.
In dealing with brethren (1 Cor. 10:24; Rom. 15:2-3).
1 Corinthians 10:24 NKJV
24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.
Romans 15:2–3 NKJV
2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. 3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”
However, God’s will comes first (Gal. 1:10).
Galatians 1:10 NKJV
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Jesus followed this priority (Jn. 4:34; 5:30; 6:38).
John 4:34 NKJV
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
John 5:30 NKJV
30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
John 6:38 NKJV
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
He encouraged others to do likewise (Mk. 12:17).
Mark 12:17 NKJV
17 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.

Respect for God Brings One To Respect The Seriousness Of Following His Word.

Jesus respected the word of the covenant he lived under (Matt. 5:17-20).
Matthew 5:17–20 NKJV
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
The fact that God’s will as some things more weighty than others does not mean that the less weight can be neglected (Matt. 23:23).
Matthew 23:23 NKJV
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
Grace does not mean that we can choose to sin even occasionally (Rom. 6:14-15).
Romans 6:14–15 NKJV
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
God is the one to be found true (Rom. 3:3-11).
The faithful love finding and doing God’s will (Ps. 119).
God is to be pleased first (1 Thess. 2:4).
1 Thessalonians 2:4 NKJV
4 But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.

Conclusion:

Yes, we should be concerned about the feelings of others – God cares about their feelings.
However, God’s interests are paramount!
Let God be found true!
