Something New

Are You Something New Introduction: Today as we begin our new walk together, it is my desire that we start off with a vision of new birth. Each one of us are a unique child of God and have unique gifts and talents. Together I see great things for this church and this church family. Let us now begin to have a spirit of cooperation and charity. Lesson Text: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 Main point: New life in Jesus An old problem: (SIN) Looking all the way back to our beginning, we find the humans had a very special relationship with God. It was a PERSONAL relationship. It was all good till they decided that they wanted to be God. Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, And you will strike His heel." What are some of the aspects or characteristics of this new life? Let’s look at three. 1) We have the Forgiveness of our Sins. In Christ we receive the Forgiveness of our Sins. Mark 10:18: “No one is good-except God alone.” Ephesians 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2) We have eternal life. Our new life comes with a second gift. Each day will be the first day for the rest of our lives. Blessings never ending! Rom 6:22-23 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Christians are new creations in Christ. Forgiven, living forever, in a personal relationship with God. 3) Peace in Christ We can have peace in times of trouble and strife. Being secure in Christ gives us peace. Peace that the worldly people just cannot understand. Know that the Peacemaker is found RIGHT HERE at Providence UMC.
