Faith is birthed out of something that we do not have
Discontentment is the catalyst of faith
We should be pursuing something that we do not have!
something that we are hoping for!

11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.
What does the text say?
Sarah recieved power to conceive - even though it was biologically impossible
Her faith was not in her ability to conceive, but rather in the one who promised that she would
Her faith (which was really HIS faith) accomplished the plan and will of the Lord to bring innumerable descendants from Abraham and Sarah.
I find it interesting that we find Sarah here, because if you look at her life, it is almost anything BUT faith filled.
Points to draw from Sarah
Points to draw from Sarah
Sarah’s faith was birthed out of discontentment
Sarah’s faith was given to her, not earned
Eph 2:8-9
Sarah’s Faith was based on His faithfulness
Facts to consider:
Sarah is mentioned more than any woman in the Bible
God changed her name from Sarai to Sarah in Gen 17:15
Sarai means princess, Sarah can be translated as queen
She was brought into God’s covenantal promise at the time of her name change and the Lord said that He had given her a son (past tense)
According to one of the ancient midrashes, Hay represented the presence of God within the Human heart
Additionally, in Hebrew grammar, when you add a Hay at the end of a word, it feminizes it and allows it to be fruitful
She was referenced in Galatians 4:21-31
