A- Gospel Power

Good news which is powerless to change the misery in the world is not good news

The Gospel’s Power is made known by the Apostles healing of the sick and care of the poor

B- Things Go Bad

The gospel’s power will always be challenged by the world’s power

What do we do when participating in God’s work puts us at odds with the world?

C- Freedom?

If we hold fast to Christ, nothing can stop us.

The Gospel is unstoppable, and God will let nothing hinder its work.

God gives the apostles freedom, but is this the kind of freedom we celebrate today?

They are free, but they do not run to protect themselves

They are not so much freed from prison as they are freed for the gospel

Precedented in Egypt

The freedom offered by God is not the freedom we celebrate

American freedom is selfish and easy

God’s freedom is selfless and difficult

The freedom given by God empowers the apostles to stand in defiance of the world

D- Revolution

In Short, the Holy Spirit empowers us for a revolution

God’s revolution looks different than revolutions in this world

“When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you are to say.” (Luke 12:11-12)
