Bottomline: It is impossible to follow Jesus and not serve others.

Intro- Talk about special needs camp
Talk about the sleep regression we are going through....and other things that children do....

Children have a way of humbling you and teaching you to not just focus on your own wants and needs.

A humble heart produces good fruit.

Mark

You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Philippians

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Luke

11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

James

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Matthew

11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

It is impossible to follow Jesus and not serve others.

Jesus taught us to serve not just by His words but by His example.

In John 13 Jesus washes His disciples feet!

We must view inconveniences as opportunities. Disruptions as divine appointments.

Practical take aways....

-Find a regular way to serve in different corners of your life....in your family, marriage, workplace, neighborhood, our community and church.
-Create margin in your life to actually be able to respond to opportunities
-Ask God to give you a humble heart and focus on others
