It was a great weekend for Agape— yesterday’s powerful worship was followed by a joyful fellowship of brothers & sister who obviously missed one another
Last week we tackled the story of the Lord’s prediction of His betrayal— from it we learned quite a number of things that we can hold on to as we live to follow and serve our Lord— Here are those principles and promises:
WHAT THE ENEMY MEANT FOR EVIL JESUS TURN IT FOR GOOD
I WILL TRUST THE LORD EVEN IN TIMES WHEN I DO NOT UNDERSTAND
I WILL GIVE MY WHOLE TO CHRIST
I WILL BE BLESSED IF I FOLLOW THE EXAMPLES OF CHRIST
I AM CHOSEN
I BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE FULFILLMENT OF OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES
I ACCEPT THE TRUTH THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD THE FATHER
Today we will finish chapter 13— and to complete this chapter, let’s take a look at another prediction Jesus made few nights before he was arrester, tried and sent to be crucified
Open your Bible to JOHN 13:31-38, quickly type Amen once you get there

31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. 33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” 36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” 37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!
This was still the night when they had the what we now called— “The Last Supper” or the Lord’s Supper [it was their traditional passover meal]
It was a few days after Jesus arrived in Jerusalem as King [Triumphal Entry]
Jesus was joined by His disciples except Judas who left to set the arrest, trial, and execution of the Lord in motion
It was also during this night when Jesus predicted that before the rooster crows, Peter will deny Him three times

MY CHILDREN, I WILL BE WITH YOU ONLY A LITTLE LONGER
Jesus understands that He must suffer in order for His role as the Son of Man to be fulfilled and for God to glorify Him
He had the option to stop Judas, the person who would betray Him— but He didn’t
“Children” is a common way for a teacher to address disciples
LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU
Jesus inserted in His farewell discourse the commandment from LEVITICUS 19:18
In another occasion when one of the expert in the law asked to trap Him— which of the commandments is the greatest— You can find His reply in MATTHEW 22:37-38
This is what we call the Greatest Commandment— and from here we got the first two purposes of the church— the first two purposes of every Christian— WORSHIP & MINISTRY
EVERYONE WILL KNOW THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES, IF YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER
The indicator of a Christian is the way they treat others
The basis of spiritual maturity is not more on what a Christian says— but more on what he does
WHERE I AM GOING YOU CANNOT FOLLOW, BUT LATER YOU WILL
He was referring to his crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection— not referring to heaven when he said “where I am going you cannot follow”
When the Lord said, “but later you will”— that, he is referring to heaven, our ultimate destination
BEFORE THE ROOSTER CROWS, YOU WILL DISOWN ME THREE TIMES
Although Peter believes he is completely dedicated to following Jesus, he actually is not
TOOK
TOOK
I WILL LOVE OTHERS THE WAY HOW JESUS LOVED ME
I will worship the Lord and minister to others— it’s the greatest commandment
WILL I REALLY LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR JESUS?
When the Lord predicted his death, he said this in MATTHEW 16:25
