To This End

The work of ministry is not for the timid, the weak, or the lazy. It is labor, it is work. This work is not a popularity contest. To be in minstry means that not everyone will like you. If you are in ministry long enough people will let you know just how important you are. One man told me "Pastor the reason I came to this church was because of you." That made me feel good. On the eve of his departure from the church the same man said "The reason that I am leaving this church is because of you." See how important I was. I made people come and I made people go. Ministry is not radical but is is counter-cultural. The world will never understand the preacher. The message of the preacher doesn't come from the local news, it comes from God. God does not change to fit the culture. He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. He is our God. We trust Him.

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
