Psalm 92 KJV 1900
A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. 1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, And to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night, 3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; Upon the harp with a solemn sound. 4 For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. 5 O Lord, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep. 6 A brutish man knoweth not; Neither doth a fool understand this. 7 When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; It is that they shall be destroyed for ever: 8 But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore. 9 For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, For, lo, thine enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. 11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, And mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. 12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; They shall be fat and flourishing; 15 To shew that the Lord is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Praise God for His Love and Faithfulness (1-4)

Psalm 92:1–4 KJV 1900
1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, And to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night, 3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; Upon the harp with a solemn sound. 4 For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
The Psalm begins with it is good to praise the Lord!
not only is it good to praise him, we should do so with song
We declare the faithfulness of our Great God with music
We praise the lords faithulness with music
Rembeber Psalm 150?
Psalm 150:3–6 KJV 1900
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: Praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
The point of Psalm 150 is if it is availible to us we should use it for the Praise of the Lord
A good theme for the Psalms of David is Praise be to my God!
Are you praising God today for his faithfulness in your life?

Praise God for His control (V. 5-8)

Psalm 92:5–8 KJV 1900
5 O Lord, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep. 6 A brutish man knoweth not; Neither doth a fool understand this. 7 When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; It is that they shall be destroyed for ever: 8 But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.
Notice the text....
your works are great
your thought are deep
The fool does not understand God
notice how the Christian standard (and most modern translations) describes this man
Psalm 92:6 CSB
6 A stupid person does not know, a fool does not understand this:
notice the burst of praise in verse 7-8
Psalm 92:7–8 KJV 1900
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; It is that they shall be destroyed for ever: 8 But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.
even though the wicked are all around
even though they thrive
they are headed to complete destruction
BUT the Lord reigns forever!!!
Are you praising God for His complete Control?

Praise God for His protection over us (Ps. 92:9-11)

Psalm 92:9–11 KJV 1900
9 For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, For, lo, thine enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. 11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, And mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
David beginns relizing the many enimies of God and thus of Him butt.
God had lifted Him up and anointed Him with oil
not just any oil with fine oil
The KJV
Lets make one point clear, no the Bible is not talking about a white hourse with a purple ranbow here...
rember the KJV uses unicorn, most modern translations use wild ox
notice the Christian standared again
Psalm 92:10 CSB
10 You have lifted up my horn like that of a wild ox; I have been anointed with the finest oil.
This was in all liklyhood a rinosorous.
again remember this was not a bad translation when the KJV was written,
but today it is.
But lets get back to the point of the text...
in this time horns would have been used to anoint kings and profits.
they were filled with fine oil and the oil was poured on the one being anointed
this was a sign of God’s choosing
David here is agnolaging that God has promiced to protect him regardless of who comes after him
Are you praising God today for His protection over you?

Praise God for His provision for us (Ps. 92:12-15)

Psalm 92:12–15 KJV 1900
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; They shall be fat and flourishing; 15 To shew that the Lord is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
The cedar’s of Lebanon were known for how large they were David is here saying the richous will grow and be blessed.
Notice what is said...
They are planted in the house of the Lord
They flourish in the courts of Our God
They bear fruit in old age
they are full of sap and green
He finishis with a final burst of praise
He is my rock and there is none like Him
This is not prosparity Gospel
but God does promice to provide for us
Are you praising God for His provision for you?

Are you praising God today for his faithfulness in your life?
Are you praising God for His complete Control?
Are you praising God today for His protection over you?
