Where We Have Been

Jesus - Our Deliverer, Our Redeemer
Colossians 1:12–13 ESV
giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,
Jesus - More Than Enough
Colossians 1:18–21 ESV
And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,
Jesus - Worth It
Colossians 1:27 ESV
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Jesus - So Walk In Him
Colossians 2:6–7 ESV
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Jesus - Your Life in Him
Colossians 3:2–4 ESV
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

… Which He Is!

If He has truly delivered us from all this world has to offer (Which He has)
If He is more than enough and can accomplish all that He has set his mind to for our benefit… more power than necessary, more knowledge and wisdom than necessary, and He is always present and always working on it.... Which He Is
If He is worth it to suffer every trial, ever struggle, every labor… Which He Is...
If He is example of how to walk through this life full of distraction, chaos, and turmoil… which He is...
If He is the on who gave us the strength and Spirit to put down the things of the flesh and pick up the ways he created us to walk (first and foremost with love).... Which He is..

Then He should be worthy of us doing Everything in His Name — WHICH HE IS!

Colossians 3:17 ESV
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Does that mean I should watch every word that comes out of my mouth and do my best to make sure it lifts Him up? --- Absolutely
Does that mean that every action that I put my body through should demonstrate the glory of who He is? — Absolutely
WWJD fad.
But that’s hard.

Let’s KISS (Keep It Simple SAINT)

KNOWLEDGE IS OF NO VALUE UNLESS YOU PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

#1 Not a Full Treatise

The Instructions Are Not In Depth

The Broadest Stroke for the MOST Beautiful Result

Wives

10 Greek words -
submit to your husband -
as is fitting

Husbands

8 Greek words
love your wives
do not be harsh

Children

9 Greek words
Obey (in everything)
this pleases the Lord

Break from the list -WHATEVER YOU DO

Work heartily (wholly, thouroughly)
your reward comes not from the paycheck,
our inheritance from him is worth way more, and we serve HIM.
The wrongdoer will get paid back.

Masters

13 Greek words
Last because this is the closest example of true authority
He treats us justly.
He treats of fairly.
Not just Bosses but those He has placed responsible. (husbands, fathers, pastors, elders, etc…)
1 Peter 5:1–3 ESV
So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.
James 3:1 ESV
Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

Practical Application for Treating Insiders

Colossians 4:2–4 ESV
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.
Practical Application for Treating Insiders
We Pray,
We watch for reasons to pray,
We are thankful,
We Pray for Ministers
Open Doors
Declare the mystery
Colossians 1:27 ESV
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
We proclaim it (not just deeds - words)
We make it clear (it is hard to believe, but not hard to explain)
We ought to speak it.

Practical Application on Treating Outsiders

Implies we are insiders (in His nation, priesthood, family, IN HIM.
Implies they are not (nationless, outcast, forfeited to this dark world in which they are captive)

This defines the rest of the verse...

Colossians 4:5–6 ESV
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
If “they” are forfeit and captive, the WISEST thing we can do for them is to point to the redeemer and deliverer
If “they” are forfeit and captive, the BEST USE OF OUR TIME is point to the redeemer and deliverer.
Speech is gracious
God gave us grace (getting what we don’t deserve) our speech should reflect the same.
Speech is seasoned with salt
flavor
preservative
If we walk in wisdom it guides us to an answer.
a response to every question
and outward expression that points to the redeemer deliverer
to refuse to answer is to allow them to be forfeited and captive to this dark world
