18 One day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
19 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other ancient prophets risen from the dead.”
20 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah sent from God!”

Faith In God
Faith In God
To have faith is to defy logic. It takes faith to think positively. It takes faith to believe that there is a loving God who cares deeply about our pain. To believe in life, the universe, or yourself after numerous failures is to have courage. Faith is an act of courage. It is choosing to get up in the morning and face our fears and believe that God will help us. Faith is choosing to believe that even though we may have failed one hundred times before that we can succeed the next time..
Faith …when searched on google… by definition is a noun… and for us who have been out of school fro a while… a noun is a person.. place or thing… .. such as trust, belief confidence , relience…dependence..
faith according to the bible in Hebrews 11:1
1 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
1 The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.
I personally like the English standard veerson.. because it uses words like… assurance.. and conviction...
assurance.... means confidence… .. confident.. means i know this is about to happen…
there is a song called blessed assurance Jesus is mine.... … this is my story .. this is my song…praising my savoir all the day long.....
why am i priaising him.. because.. I know… who holds my tomorrow.. because I know what he has done… not for anyone else.. but for me...
conviction… that thing that we run run over now… that thing that God gives us .. when we are not lining up with his will for our lives...
now days we try to use Gods grace like.. we use time out to discipline or children…
but the bible says in
24 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.
promptly.. im gone give you a little time to think about what you did.. then we gone talk.. naw.. the bible says promptly…
and if your honest with yourself… when you got sideways with sister green-bean and brother Joe blow… God convicted you right then… you may have felt a heaviness… or sickness in your belly… that wasn't your nerves .. that was God.. that was the Holy Ghost being grieved because you acted unseemly..
so now that we say we have faith… and when what we say.. does not line up what we believe.. there should be a conviction process that happens… why …because when you put Gods name in something.. you better be part of the family… or else thats considered to be fraud...
.. if my wife signs my name to something.. that means im held accountable for what ever it is… why because we a married.. but if… someone else thats not connected to me signs my name.. thats fraud...

III. Text
in our text we have Jesus asking two questions… the more important question comes after the first… he then asks the disciplies… the ones that he .. called..
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
the ones he chose… the ones he told.. i have need of you.. im going to make you fishers or men...
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
he asked the ones.. he walked with.. the ones he lead… who do you say that I am.. who am I...
the Lord is asking us today .. Who Am I…
i have to admit.. i was scrammingly asking a nd seeking God on wha to say.. today.. .
and wondering.. saying Lord .. this is not sounding right.. this cant be it....and everytime… ill go right back.. to the word…
who is asking.... this is not God the Father.. but this Jesus.. the son.... the one who gave his life so that we can get another chance…the one the devil laughs at ever time we return to our sin like a dog to his vommit.. thats why we cant continue is sin… your weaking Gods grace.. your belittling God grace and mercy evry time you conitnue to go back and forth..
jesus .. the son.. the one who bleed and died.. the one who went through all the pain and sufferings so that you might have life… not just any life but an abundant life...
the one who is sitting on the right hand of God.. interceeding on your behalf...
jesus is asking… you.. who am i ..
am not to interested in who the world says I am… . im more interested in who you say i am..
how many of you know that you can get so caught in the hustle and bustle of life .. that you can lose focus on why you do what you do.... on what your calling is.. what your purpose is....
Jesus was asking his disciples .. who am I…
..
i preached a message from matthews account … entitled who do you say that I am… built around your profession of Jesus..outwardly..… who you profess jesus to be in your life and what you tell others..
but in lukes account i believe its dealing with the diciples on a personal level…
our text does not give how they came up with the response...
did they feel that he he had fullfilled some other function other than a phophet?
What had they seen..... or what do they see.... that the people had not seen ?
IV. look back
someone here today is at a crossroads.. its almost like a sea-saw… we are almost smack dab in the middle of the year… and your next move… your next next blessing… your miracle… your healing is directly connected to your responce to Gods Question to you today...
so what i need everyone to do is to start thinking back on what God has done for you.... im not talking about what you have heard.. somebody elses testimony .. im talking about what God has done for you.. ..
and when those things that God has brought you out of begin to flow through your mind.. i need you to start prasing God.... when thoughts of God healing your body begin to flow throught your mind i need you to start praising God.. when thoughts of God Making a way out of no way.. start praising God..
and if you cant remember anything God has done for you.. start priaing him.. for waking you up this morning..
v. who am i..
as we stand to our feet .. i need you to begin to Gods question.. to you… i need everyone to open there mouth and tell God.. tell Jesus who he is to you....
