In 1929, at the end of the roaring 20’s the stock market was booming. With rapid growth and the excitement over investments, people dumped their life savings into stocks that were valued at well over their real value. They were valuable because people wanted them, not because the companies were solid. All that came to an end on Black Tuesday - October 29, 1929. What followed was the great depression that lasted 10 years.
2008 - the collapse of the housing bubble : Home values plummeted dropping until 2012. There are now predictions of another housing bubble collapse.

So where is the safe investment?
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
Give to the poor
Prayer
Fasting
It is a bad investment.
21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
5 “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
If a husband sees another man flirting with his wife, he is jealous because he knows that many only wants his wife for what he can take from her, but he knows what he is willing to give to her.
Our Father is jealous of our heart, because He gave us everything we have and everything we need. How arrogant and foolish is it then to use what he has given us, to give to someone or something else, who will ultimately lead us to destruction?
There was a comedic bit years ago that talked about a dad and his son and football.
God is jealous for our heart.

front sight is clear. Target is blurry.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.
23 “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
How people thought the eye worked. Light to the eye. Light from the eye onto an object, reflected back to the eye.
God has given me an ability to not focus on the negative attributes of people.
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
15 “If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Who will you serve?
