Andrew Payton Eulogy
I will not be before you long! I want to talk about 2 words , read some scripture and then we will close out!
The first word I want to put before you is the word TIME
Say Time!
Time Is The Currency of Earth.
For example - God did not give you friends, He gave you Time and you took your Time and invested your Time into people to create relationships!
Say Time
Andrew was given Time! He took the daily gift that God gave him of Time and invested his Time into his wife , his children, grandchildren, friends, co-workers and church family and the results are in and God has said
23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
The Second Word I want To share with you is
“Assignment”
Say Assignment
There is a scripture in the bible in the book of Jeremiah
God is talking and he says to Jeremiah
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
God knew Andrew way before you and I did! He formed him in the womb and separated him to do a work for the kingdom of God - That was his assignment!
Just like God gave Moses an assignment - God took TIME and trained Moses for 80 years before Moses became a great deliverer. When Moses’s assignment was completed God took him home!
God gave Jesus an assignment - He invested 30 years of time before Jesus began His earthly ministry of three and one half years. When his assignment was over Jesus went home to be with the father!
Andrew was given an assignment!
He was given a certain amount of time here on earth to complete his assignment!
He had to use his time wisely! and Wisely he used his time!
Let me share this with you - Andrew aka Hero shared these scriptures with me early on in ministry - actually, when we were deacons together at Greater Ephesians and he may have shared it with you! But this has had a profound impact on my life! it took me a minute to get it, but when I did it made sense!
24 Four things on earth are small, yet they are very wise:
25 Ants are not a strong species, yet they store their food in summer.
6 Take a lesson from the ants, you lazy fellow. Learn from their ways and be wise!
7 For though they have no king to make them work,
8 yet they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
Andrew was on assignment and had his mission!
No one had to tell him what to do - he did what God created him to do:
What was his assignment?
His assignment was to love and protect, comfort and care for his amazing wife and the mother of his children - Janice - check
His assignment was to teach, train, nurture and develop his children - check
His assignment was to be loving grandfather -caring and comforting to his grandchildren- check
His assignment was to demonstrate team work and cohesiveness to his co-workers and friends - check
His assignment was to hit you with one of those R&B lyrics in the mist of a teaching moment - He would say kinda sorta like “Have you Seen Her” - by the Chi-lites! - check
His assignment was to mentor men and women like myself using the word of God - drawing us to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ - check
His assignment was to act like the student when he really was the teacher - check
He assignment was to be an example of what a Godly man looks like, stands for and operates in on a daily basis - check
His assignment was to demonstrate how to be an everyday HERO to those he loved and cared for - And to those who Loved and Cared For Him - check!
23 “His master replied, ‘Good job! You’re a good and faithful servant! You proved that you could be trusted with a small amount. I will put you in charge of a large amount. Come and share your master’s happiness.’
Andrew Payton, AKA Hero
Well Done Good and Faithful Servant! You have used your Time wisely and completed you assignment!
Now you can Share God’s happiness for eternity!
God Bless Your Legacy!!
