Staff Appreciation Day
Notes
Transcript
We are here today to honor our pastoral staff here at PCAG!
Do you appreciate the staff here at PCAG?
I’m going to use them as the illustrations this morning in order to honor them.
They all do an excellent job at their particular positions.
1 I exhort the elders who are among you, as one who is also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ as well as a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, take care of them, not by constraint, but willingly, not for dishonest gain, but eagerly.
3 Do not lord over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of glory that will not fade away.
Pastor Jason and April Parlor
Pastor Jason and April Parlor
Position: Praise and Worship Leaders
Years of Service: 11
These two have been with us here for a pretty good while and we were blessed to have them join us during the merge from Grace Hill Church.
They have been diligently working to move forward with the choir and musicians of PCAG, which can be one of the most touchy groups of people that you will come across.
I know, because I am one!
I appreciate the dedication to ministry that they both have while at the same time raising 4 young boys into strong young men that will impact the kingdom of God!
Through the years they have represented this church, you, in many different venues that have spanned across racial and cultural boundaries that have created friendships that will always be there.
I want to thank them for all that they do for the Kingdom of God and PCAG!
Pastor Alan and Kimberly Yarbrough
Pastor Alan and Kimberly Yarbrough
Position: Audio and Visual Media Leaders
Years of Service: 12
This couple have been apart of the building of ministry at PCAG for many years, starting back at the church on 109.
They have raised 4 girls and 1 boy into strong young women and tough young man that all are involved in the ministry at some point in their lives.
I had the privilege of having most of them in the youth group over the years.
They all were different, all of them!
But they are all very intelligent and love the Lord!
Jessica, the oldest, was the one who had the vision to start our children’s department over at the church on 109.
They have participated in the production of Christmas programs, special days, as well as organizing the behind the scene things for other special events.
Their ability to organize and act with precision is an asset that is greatly admired!
If you need a slide, a song pulled up, a video produced, a CD copied, or any countless media things done, given enough time and sometimes not enough time, Alan can and has made it happen many times over.
I want to thank them for all that they do for the Kingdom of God and PCAG!
Mrs. Sarah and Rev. Roger Robinson
Mrs. Sarah and Rev. Roger Robinson
Position: Children’s Department
Years of Service: 2
I am thankful for what this couple does for us here at PCAG.
They have come to us with many many years of experience in the ministry and lots of knowledge of how things should be done and a little about how things should not be done.
But that is what comes with experience!
They both work hard at educating our children about the Word of God at the same time letting them have fun.
They drive a pretty good distance to participate on our staff and also as a part of our greeters team as well.
We look forward to what God is going to do through our children with the guidance of Ms. Sarah.
She has a passion for our kids and sometimes shows it if you have ever had conversation with her about them.
When they hurt, she hurts; when they cry, she cries; when they celebrate, she celebrates with them!
I want to thank them for all that they do for the Kingdom of God and PCAG!
Pastor Alan and Tiffany Henry
Pastor Alan and Tiffany Henry
Position: Youth Department
Years of Service: 1.5
This couple is doing an excellent job teaching our teens the Word and equipping them to fight the enemy.
I’ll never forget the time when I asked Pastor Alan if he had ever considered being youth pastor.
He did not look very enthused about the position, but said that he would pray about it.
Apparently him and Tiffany prayed and talked about it and he came back to me and said that he would try it.
Might have been a tough start, but God has equipped Him and Tiffany to do the work of the Lord in the young people of this church.
I remember when Shelley and I were youth pastors in Manchester and Alan and Tiffany were in our youth group.
Alan was on fire for the Lord and would take off running or fall out in the floor if you looked at him the right way.
Tiffany was still just as shy as she is today, but will come out if provoked.
Both of them are a huge asset to this church and have a long future in the Lord.
The calendar stays full and the youth stay busy, but that is what it takes to make a youth department grow.
But with all the activities, they both take every opportunity to share the life with these youth.
They seek to see these young people grow in the Lord and be powerful for the kingdom.
I want to thank them for all that they do for the Kingdom of God and PCAG!
Mrs. Shelley Smith
Mrs. Shelley Smith
Position: Executive Assistant
Years of Service: 4
Shelley was put in this position by Dad and I knew that when she got in there she would work tirelessly until everything was to her liking or “perfect.”
I am proud to call her my wife and administrative assistant, which is sometimes very weird for me.
I have a natural tendency to want to help and do things for her…most of the time.
I can say that if something needs to get done, she will get it done!
The problem is that she will do and do and do until there is no more do in her if I don’t watch her.
She loves to help people and has no problem giving me instruction when needed.
She keeps me straight even when I don’t think I need to be straightened!
I love her more today than I ever have and cannot be prouder of who she is or how she works.
I want to thank her for all that she does for me, the Kingdom of God and PCAG!
Everyone of these that I have just talked about are members of our pastoral staff here at PCAG.
They have each a different role to play in the ministry that we do here.
But they all have the same purpose with a different audience!
Shepherding the Flock
Shepherding the Flock
They all have to shepherd the flock that they have been given the responsibility to shepherd.
They must lead and care for the members in their ministry group as well as the cross overs that are naturally going to happen.
They must disciple them and train them trough the teaching of the Word to those that they are responsible for.
They must protect them through prayer and fasting for the needs of those that they are leading.
This team has been proven to stand up for what is right and the truth of the Word of God!
Not for Dishonest Gain
Not for Dishonest Gain
They do what they do without the feeling of “I deserve more!”
The dishonesty of some that are always in search for more money has destroyed ministries.
None of these do what they do for the money, because we do not even come close to paying them what they are worth.
The rewards that they will receive fro God will far out-weigh what we could ever do.
They all do what they do for the Lord and the Lord is our audience!
The Honor That is due
The Honor That is due
Where can I even begin?
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
We have set this day up to honor those that serve here at PCAG on our pastoral staff for this very reason.
They have put forth the effort to keep the services going during the shut down.
They have been innovative in the continuation of ministry during the pandemic.
They have strived to help others in time when they are in need as well.
This is why we honor those that do good for the kingdom.
It would be different if they had come to me and wanted this, but I can assure you that they are uncomfortable with what has been said today about them.
One of the first traits I look for is Humility in a staff member and that is exactly what we have in our pastoral staff here
But we will still continue to honor those for honor God first in their lives.
