Revelation 15-16

Intro..

Last week, well didn’t really learn much.. Way too much talking..

V.1

This angel is announcing the last plagues before completion.

V.2-4

This fire could be the destruction that has been caused.

These people who won the victory, they are those who believed the Gospel during this time.

These people are most likely in heaven at this time, and they are singing praises to the Father.

Song of Moses was found in Exodus 15, Israel sang it when they had escaped.

V.5-8

Things are about to go down..

Angels were wearing the priestly garments.

Revelation 16

V.1-2

We see God wasting no time, verse 1 - boom, fight!

The First Bowl

Those who received the mark and worshipped the image, they were given severely painful sores

This goes back to 6th plague in Ex. 9:8-11

V.3

God poured out into his bowl into the sea...

The sea turned to blood, like of a dead person...

This caused ALL life in the sea to die.

Back in Chapter 8, only a 1/3 of the sea died… Now, all died.

This was like the first plague of Egypt in (Ex. 7:14-21)

V.4-7

The Third Bowl

Now, the rivers and streams are affected by this one.

God is now affecting ALL the water sources.

Those who followed and worshipped the beast were given what they deserved.

They wanted the blood of the saints and prophets, now they will only have blood to drink.

This is why it is best to let God have vengeance, not us.. He will do it best.

God is Just and True… He will give to everyone what they deserve.

V.8-9

The Fourth Bowl

The fourth trumpet dimmed the sun.. This bowl causes great heat that burns people.

Instead of crying out for help… they blaspheme God.. They refuse to repent, they refuse to give him glory… They hate him.

V.10-11

The Fifth Bowl

This caused darkness to occur on the kingdom of the beast.

Now, we have no idea what caused the darkness..

People may have gnawed their tongues in pain due to: (1) extreme cold caused by the ongoing darkness, (2) the sores from the first bowl judgment (v. 2), (3) the severe burns related to the fourth bowl (vv. 8–9), or (4) all three of these factors.

Their rule and authority was about to end.

V.12-14

The Sixth Bowl

This is preparation for the battle of armageddon.

There are armies who are moving to join the kings of the world for the Great Battle,

The demonic spirits perform deceiving signs and wonder for the kings to do the will of Satan.

V.15-16

Here, we see Jesus giving a warning to the readers...

Be alert, be ready, I am coming.

The kings assembled at the place of Armageddon..

If you ever get a chance to go to Israel, you’ll see the place of Meggido..

This is where we believe it will take place.

V.17-21

The Seventh Bowl

This bowl is focused on Babylon, which is known for Satan’s HQ.

Babylon could be a place, could be a picture of a society (tower of babel).

We see great destruction… It’s going to be hell on earth.
