Sermon on the Mount
It is the Constitution for Christ Followers
1st half, defined the character of a Christ Follower
2nd half depicts the practices of a Christ Follower
As Pr Chet taught us last week
We have been given words of wisdom from Jesus
How do we handle the wisdom, with others…?
Matthew 7:7–11 (NKJV)
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
What kind of relationship would you have with someone if you never spoke to them?
Marriage
It would be a terribly shallow relationship
It would be nearly inexistent and
Remember back
Middle and High School
Passing Notes in class/ Putting notes in a locker or on a car
Sending text messages
There was a consistency with the communication that produced and intimacy where you began to know the person.
Consistency Produces Intimacy
Consistency Produces Intimacy
There is a repetition of consistent & persistent communication and dependance on the Lord
ASK, SEEK, KNOCK
Jesus is continuing his thought of telling us how to receive the wisdom that we will need to navigate life
It is impossible to have the Wisdom and Discernment the Lord wants to give, without us being fully dependent on Him to give it
Keep doing these things: ASKING, SEEKING, KNOCKING= PRAYING
ASK
Ask with Humility Like a traveler trying to find their way
How often do we find ourselves asking the question
What am I supposed to do, or where am I supposed to go?
We are asking the Lord for His Divine wisdom
TRAVELING BACK FROM ORLANDO
SEEK
Seek Him as though you are looking for something valuable
I value the relationship that I have with you
I value who you are and want to spend time with you

KNOCK
As though you are entering into someones house
There is a depth and place of intimacy when you are going over to someones house
They are inviting you into their most personal of spaces
Progression
Greater depth of intimacy as we consistently seek Him
He is saying the saying the same thing 3 different ways to drive home a point
Keep Seeking me with ALL of your heart
Jeremiah 29:12-14
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,
Matthew 7:8
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Intimacy Produces Generosity
Intimacy Produces Generosity
Matthew 7:8-11
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Intimacy Produces Generosity
Our Relationship with the Lord is likened to that of Him being our Father
Comparison of an Earthly Father
If you then being “Evil”
Despite having a sinful Nature
As parents we give generously to our kids
There is an intimacy that God desires to have with us as His children
1 John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
As His Children he lavishes (gives Generously) gifts to us
James 1:17
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
He is consistent in His generosity toward us
The only thing he can and will give to us is good gifts
Luke 11:13
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Personhood of the Spirit
The Spirit is Omniscient
Omniscient= All Knowing/Knowledgeable
It is through this personal and intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit that we hear His voice, that we know what he is speaking to us
Intimate Relationship with Timothy and Olivia;
Know what they are saying
The Same what the the Father gives to His Kids;
We Hear and know his voice
He wants to speak to You
Devotions
Generosity Produces Generosity
Generosity Produces Generosity
1 John 4:7-11
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
We know what true Love is because it was generously given to us
He wants us to Generously give it to others
Matthew 7:12
Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Therefore
Whats it there for?
It is a summation
Summing up all that was said before
God Wants:
You to Consistently Seek Him in Prayer
As you consistently Seek him in Prayer you will grow in intimacy with Him
As you Grow in Intimacy with Him you will experience His Generosity of Wisdom and Love
He wants you to Love others as He has Loved you
These are the Practices/Outworking's of Christ Followers
