Matthew 11:7 ESV

7 As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

John’s disciples are walking away at this point. This is after they have had the conversation “Who are you, the promised on or are we to look to another” (Matthew 11:2). Jesus wants the crowd to understand who John is. He did not do this when the disciples of John where there and I always wonder why? Jesus could have told the disciples of John that he had it all right, he was a great man and in the that he was there as the herald for Jesus.

Some might suggest that Jesus did not give complements as not to build pride. But does He not give Peter a complment when
