It’s interesting to note how here in the book of Acts these men are refereed to as Elders or “presbyteros”, which is the Jewish concept of leader based primarily on age, but in 1 Timothy he repeatedly calls them “Overseers” or (episkopos) which is the Greek concept of a leader that is based more on civic oversight. One is not necesarily better than the other as elsewhere he uses these terms interchangeably, but here at Friendship Church we have adopted Overseers for our use.
