Introduction

This verse sets the tone for the rest of the book. All the actions of the people and Nehemiah can be attributed to the principles set forth in this verse.
The people were still dealing with the effects of the captivity but Nehemiah provides the drive and motivation for things to be restored.
The backdrop to this verse is Nehemiah’s inspection of the wall (Neh 2:11-16).

“Let us”

If restoration is your aim, you are not going to have much success if you try to do it on your own.
You need God’s help
Php. 4:19 Supplies your needs
Php. 4:13 Supplies your strength
Php 4:6-7 Supplies your peace
You need the help of others
Gal 6:1-10

“Arise”

This word means to establish, come to fruition, endure. For this to happen I must get up (arise) and Move On!.
The people couldn’t build if they didn’t move on from feeling sorry for themselves
Nehemiah couldn’t lead if he didn’t move on for the palace, and the ruins of the wall
We need to arise and move on. (even if you messed up, sinned, have struggles, if God gives the opportunity to try again arise!)
1 Cor. 15:9-10
Luke 15:16-20

“Build”

The word means to restore to a prior state or a changed state.
This means we need to get to work. While there is help from God and others, you need to put in the work.
2 Pet 1:5 “supply”
Php. 2:12 “work out”
Heb 11:6 “diligently seek”
No one can work for you, change for you, or go to heaven for you
This wall was not going to build itself, they had to get up and build together, thus leading them to success.

Arise, Get Going, Become a follower of God today. The people in Acts 2:38 repented, were baptized, and became saved. Be saved today!
