Show how Christ has left his mark in your life.

Philippians 3:17 NLT
17 Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example.
Paul is pointing them toward Christ and eternal salvation.
Paul says follow his example and others who live humbly seeking to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in humility and love.

Christ changed you to live for him.

Represent Christ in your actions.
This may lead you to ask forgiveness because we are in need of grace.
This also may be you are to the one to give forgiveness to show you are under Grace and live by His grace.
You will show self-control and compassion to others needs.
Make marks to show others that Christ is in your life.
Be a good example of disciples of Christ.

Be the Good example

Philippians 3:18 NLT
18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ.

Be aware of the enemies of the cross of Christ

Paul in writing suggest there are people within the church professing Christ but not living for Christ.
They reflect Jesus teaching:
Matthew 15:8 NLT
8 ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Paul goes on to say...
Philippians 3:19 NLT
19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.

Lead in the right direction

Paul is warning that these bad actors desires after the wrong desires.
Their god is their appetite (belly) or their self satisfaction.
Paul is pointing out all they want is what will bring satisfaction to their body.
Their only concern is for what their own bodies desire.
Their glory is their shame
Their shameful conduct is not shameful to them.
They are proud of their selfish evil desires.
Their mind is set on earthly things.
This again expresses direct contrast to followers of Christ who have the mind of Christ.
We can not live for Heaven and this world.
Jesus prays for us to know our true identity in Jesus:
John 17:16 NLT
16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do.
We are to live as citizens of Heaven
Philippians 3:20–21 NLT
20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.

Make Heaven your Mark

We are waiting to see Jesus in his splendor and join him in Heaven. As we wait we have a glimpse of heaven of the work fo God in us until Jesus comes back again.
Philippians 1:6 NLT
6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Therefore let us conduct ourselves as citizens of Heaven and be symbols of hope to others. May our life leave marks in the people we love. May these marks lead them to know Jesus too!

The hope in Jesus leads to ethical living

We live now seeking what is good and pleasing in the eyes of the Lord because he has saved us. As we live out this earthly journey we are anticipating our heavenly experience. “And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior (v.20b NLT).”
When he comes back we will know what it means to LIVE!
Philippians 3:21 NLT
21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
We will be changed and all diseases, viruses, ailments, disabilities, and death will end. We will know perfection, and total subjection to the resurrected King!
