Northridge Baptist Church – Pastor Kevin Subra – July 26, 2020
a. The Spirit indwelling us is tied to our ______________________.
Rom 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit
of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,
he is not His.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells
in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal
bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the
Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Cor 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy
Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
2 Tim 1:14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy
Spirit who dwells in us.
b. The Spirit is given to a person when one ____________________.
Acts 2:38 “Repent…and you shall receive the gift…”
Gal 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by
the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? (cf. 3:5)
Gal 3:13-14 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having
become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on
a tree "), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in
Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through
faith.
Gal 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son
into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
Eph 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were
sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our
inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the
praise of His glory.
c. The Spirit always “has been given” (________ tense) to believers
Rom 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been
poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
2 Cor 1:21-22 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has
anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our
hearts as a guarantee.
2 Cor 5:5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also
has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
1 Thes 4:8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God,
who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
1 John 4:13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because
He has given us of His Spirit.
