So excited to be sharing the word of God with you this morning and this morning as you already know where in the Book of Matthew chapter 6 as we're going for The Sermon on the Mount father as we your word this morning made everything fathered that is said this morning. He said For Your Glory. May you teach our heart this morning Father as we said your word this morning. May your word not return void. May you help us to grow in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Virtual topic of money of money to give a biblically so as we go and specifically you talkin about giving to those in need as we look at a guy's word this morning. So Matthew 6 verse 1 through 4, as you already know we've been on this series on The Sermon on the Mount we're looking at what it means to live a blessed life according to Jesus living a blessed life Through The Eyes of Jesus and as you remember our premise there after resetting the Beatitudes and it has been locked up as we learn about being Salt and Light in our community Matthew 5 18 to 20 our premises for truly I say Do you until Heaven and Earth pass away not on iodine added that will passed away from the lawn seal oreillys accomplished and then the Bible says ever relaxes never relaxes one of the least of these commitments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. So now that leaves us to our texts this morning, which says beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them for then you will have no reward from your father who is in heaven. When you give to the needy sound no trumpet before you as the Hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets that they may be praised by others truly. I say to you they have received their reward, but when you give to the needy do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. So that you're giving may be in secret and your father was Sees In Secret will reward you. And as we go into The Sermon on the Mount and steadying the stacks, we're talkin about the Inside Out life. It's not about what report rate on the outside but it's wet actually inside. What our motivation is. The Inside Out life is the Christian Life The Inside Out life is counterculture. It is counterculture the things the principles that we will be learning here does not make sense in the economy of the world. Because they are from God so we want to live as Christians in this world in a way that is attractive and authentic. So today we will see another to be attractive and offensive to the world Christians need to give generously and do so without hypocrisy Christians need to give generously and they need to do so without hypocrisy father. May you help us this morning to not only hear your word but to do it As we leave in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Is he from chapter 5 we moved here from moral righteousness righteousness between you and me and as you were taught as we talked about loving the unlovable not retaliating against people would do us wrong talking about lust vs. Love divorce and marriage talking about anger or forgiveness of our relationship with others in chapter 6. We have a transition there where now Jesus is moving from our moral righteousness to our religious righteousness and receive are three things three things that Amy Christians should do three things that the Pharisees did it was. It was prayer and fasting giving prayer and fasting as we go through them in Matthew chapter 6. So our religious righteousness. These are the things that we do that shows our devotion directly to God our giving that helps others through prayer that shows our relationship with God and flu fasting which is our relationship with ourselves because I'm fasting we are depriving ourselves of things that will help us to grow. So today hours is on giving.

I was hearing a pastor that says you is your checkbook converted is your checkbook converted you see many of us know God's word many of us have been saved but somehow our checkbook never gets converted. It was Martin Luther that says there's three conversions that need to happen in in in The Believer a conversion of the heart or conversion of the mind and a conversion of the purse, which it called in from old Spurgeon said our wallets are the last and hardest to be converted. Our wallets are the left and the hardest to be converted self. I hope you will be very real this morning because a lot of us struggle in the area of money was completed and asking Christian Believers how many of them it came out to see the only about 17% says that they tied regularly 17% X regular your Faithfully, but they were reminder really look at the data only about three to five percent of Christians really actually do tithes teaching this morning. It's not about tithing but that just revealed something about our heart with our relationship with money when it comes to be given for most of us. This is Not an easy thing to do, but God says to be attractive and offencive to the world. We need to give generously and we need to do so without hypocrisy and we need to do so without apocracy. Do you know in the Bible in the Book of Matthew Mark? Luke one out of every 6 verse deal with money. in the gospel of Matthew Mark and Luke one out of every 6 verse deal with money as we are reading through the book of look right now, or you can see how many times did Jesus talk about money. There are 500 verses on prayer about there's about two less than 500 verses on faith, but guess what in the Bible you have over 2,000 verses on money. So the subject of money is very important but a lot of us whenever we talkin about money, it gets very tight in here is just like, you know, remember last time we talked about lust talking about sex and money does two things. We don't like to talk about but it turned out that we need both in the money is a very important subject in the Bible and because of all the abuse that goes on in the Bible in the church today and when you look at TV preachers were saying send me $1,000 and God will restore it a hundredfold and then to give me that guilt trip to go ahead and get it and so many people have been abused by this and then when you go to some church services, it feels like you know money is the guy that serves because that is the thing that Is mostly talked about in that service. I remember watching something on TV recently talking about giving you the sent you a check send your envelope and then he's waiting for the people after you give him your what's a you make your pledge you write it on your envelope lift it up and then I'm going to pray for you. So it's the prayer that he is going to be the blessing. The people have been misled in this area and people that been used and abused in the area of giving in the church today what people when you go to some church, did you think that it's all about money? You hear very little about Jesus. Jesus is just the cherry on the cake right now to make their point to get you. To give and giving usually to then but not giving to God about a person spirituality by taking a look at their bank statements or their checkbook or their budget. You see money is amoral.

There is nothing wrong with money. It's all about how we use it. You see because you have money. It doesn't make you evil or spiritual and vice versa. And because you don't have money doesn't mean that you are not spiritual either money is a mobile. I've met some very generous rich people and some very stingy rich people at the same time. I have met some very generous poor people and I've also met some very stingy poor people. You see the Prosperity Gospel would have us believe that if you are Christian, you must always be rich God will take care of you. He will provide for food shelter and clothing. But there's also a time when you might face some difficulties. I bet you see money god promise to provide for our needs not our greed. You see Abraham Jobe Solomon. All those were very Godly people and they were also very rich. You see whether you have some money or you don't have money that is not a sign of your spirituality Lazarus was a poor man. Remember went went went went when they said to do to Lazarus to tell my brothers about you, but Lazarus had nothing when he was living on the earth. But you see whether you have money or not money that is not necessarily true sign of your spiritual where you are on your spiritual journey we do. Hold too much of our money that God is not able to bless us financially. You see when it comes to giving we will learn three things this morning giving this to be done with the proper attitude and motivation is not optional and should be generous and then lastly this morning. We will see that our giving is a matter of spiritual growth and it is also rewarded by God, but first of all a word on giving in the general said as Christians, we are told to give We are told to give to the church giving to the work of God and also giving to people in needs giving to the work of God is something that is systematic. It is regular it is structured cuz the Bible says that we need to do it. We need to set aside some money to give to the work of God on a weekly basis or any time that we get paid from our work and then also the Bible teaches about giving to the poor and needy which is our topic this morning that would include charitable organization, which is something that we do spontaneously as the need comes up to us and it's above and beyond the giving that we do to the work of God. Our own understanding about money and the abused keeps us from talking about money. to believe as we look is got like giving is all about getting o&m and I know that the several of you have talked to me and asked me why is it that I don't talk much about money. NFL told me that I do need to speak more about this topic, but for me, I like to talk about a topic whenever I get there in the Bible or unless somebody asked me a question and today we talked about the other day. And because then I don't talk about giving I believe strongly believe that where God guides God will provide where God guides he will provide. This is something I learned very early on on my spiritual journey when I was in Bible school learning from a pastor named Pastor Chuck Smith. Rated Calvary Chapel churches movement, which they called the Jesus movement. He said if you have a Ministry that has no money to run that Ministry than you close down that Ministry. Probably gotten a call you there to that Ministry that does not mean that you will not face difficult times and give it your best effort. But what he says isn't really is that if it's the work of God and God called you to something God will provide for that and not I have strong conviction that for God's work because God says that he will provide. And I hope that will be the same for you also that you know that God will provide for you need and as a result, you will give of what God gives to you. Some general principle about money money giving is investing to God is is investing into God kingdom. So you don't ever get cheated when you give to God the Bible says we need to give sacrificially we need to give sacrificially because David is when David was about to offer a sacrifice to God and he was about to purchase Aladdin the man wanted to give it to David for free. David says no, I will not give anything to God with will not cost me anything in 2nd Samuel 24 verse 24 in giving is investing to God which we seeing Luke 6:38. UC giving has nothing to do with how much we have. We all have to give in proportion to what God has given to us. Say that I'm not going to give because I don't have much run attitude that God says we all need to give a giving it a sign of spiritual maturity which we will see now and also will see much more when we get to middle of chapter 8 when we talkin about money where your heart is is where your Where your treasure is is where your heart will be also.

Bible says it is a sign of spiritual maturity. God says I would entrust you with wealth in this world. If you why would I trust you with wealth in in the kingdom of God, if you are not faithful with wealth in this stage is he giving also is the matter that we have to determine personally what we are going to give it should not be done under pressure. We are to give in response to a need that we see we see that in Acts chapter 2 when he says that all the Believers at all things in common with your fluid the Bible where some Believers in 1000, we're going to help other believers in another town. We see that in Romans chapter 15 to giving them straight I would love for God is not a matter of law giving is not a matter of Laredo and I'll give it a word on on time and because giving is not a matter of loyal like many Subscribes to what we have to remember is that every good and perfect gift comes from God and then Jim says, what is it that you have that you did not receive. It says I would giving needs to be done with the proper attitude and motivation. It's not a show remember us talking about their religious righteousness. One of the way we worship God is giving our money. Play Matthew 6 verse 1 to 2 in our tax there. It says beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them before then you will have no reward from your father who is in heaven beware of practicing your righteousness before others in order to be seen by them. You wish you remember chapter 5 in verse 16. It says let your light shine before men so that they might see your good works. M16 it says let your light shine let people see your good works. And now in 6 verse 1 Matthew 6 verse when it says let your righteousness before others. Not be seen before others it simple. Is that the five very was talking about our moral righteousness people need to see our Christian Life lived out here in our religious righteousness. God wants that to be a private matter when we give something nobody needs to know about it. Anybody will not know about but it's our motivation. Why do we give it? Do we give it just to be seen by men? Do we give it to the show that a you know, I give do you see me and you see a lot of rich people give that way when they about to give some money. They going to have a big press conference and then they going to say are we going to do that? And that money they put it like to the to the penny because they just give me a reason why they are counting just told him to give To tell him how much they're going to save on taxes if they do that. It's not really coming from the heart and they doing it to be seen by man. You see the Pharisees remember that we are studying it was all about them. It was all about the show. It was all about external because God calls them wash wash whitewash tomb. They just wanted the exterior to look good. They just wanted to show when they go to the temple a I give or if I see somebody you need make sure you call a bunch of people and says I'm going to give Converts to it says that's when you give to the needy sound no trumpet before you. You see when you get when you need to have a breast. You're just sounding from Pat. You are not giving anything to God and when you are giving so that people can just see you giving in the church or giving to somebody in need you are just sounding trumpet, but you are not giving. See some churches that the practice of telling you owe some people God loves a cheerful Giver.

Because I did not really give I was just sounding from potatoes a is about to give a $20 note when you give to the needy or or or if we spend that don't mean you giving in the Church of the church is supposed to take care of the needy. So by extension you doing that when you give it sounds No trumpet before you so God is saying when you giving another why are you being a hypocrite?

That's what it says. You need to give generously and you need to do so without apocracy and hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the street that day may be praised by others truly. I say to you they never received the reward reward you were you trying to please man you giving Under Pressure that is pop psychology when the people do that in the Church of taking those what psychology and taking them back to the church in psychology on you. I feel angry to try to to make you feel like, you know, you can you are not being generous and then when they do that they did they manipulate you and you go and you give for the wrong reason. But God says I would giving this to be done with the proper attitude and motivation giving is not a show in God's economy. If you get just to make a shower just to be seen by others. Guess what you have been rewarded. Go ahead and enjoy but you get no reward from God. It says sound no trumpet. How many trumpets are just sounding in our churches today? I'm going to Trump Adventures from pits that are sounding but not think that it's really being given to God. See Jesus in Luke 21 verse 124 says Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box and he saw a pool with a put in two small copper coins. UC it's not a matter that others know what we give but do we give to show up? You see Jesus saw what they were giving their Jesus saw that people would only gave two coins and he saw those people were giving gift but you see one of them were doing it for show because in verse 3, Jesus says truly I tell you this pool Widow has put in more than all of them. 4 day all contributed out of the abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on. You think that's why you cannot make its uses that? Oh, I don't have enough to get now that that that lady give it then she gave sacrificially verses with you in 1st Timothy 6:18. It says they are to do good so I can buy Believers to be rich in Good Works to be generous and ready to share. So if you are a Believer, you need to be sharing with others. You need to share. You cannot keep everything that God has given you for yourself in 2nd Corinthian 9527. It says so I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised so that it may be ready as a willing gift not as an exaction. See we cannot be manipulated into giving any man if your manipulation is not really giving and that's why those are you hear me talking about giving don't worry after the service. I am not going to ask you to make an offering. I still don't log out if you know, so keep listening because I believe that we need to give because God Access to give but never under a manipulation or under pressure. Android 6 says the point is this will ever so sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully got to say it is just a matter. You will just shortchanging yourself when you don't give and it says each one must give as he has decided in his heart. Maybe you cannot be pressured into giving not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful Giver by God loves a cheerful Giver.

As you can see now you see all the problems we have with giving in our churches today. The pressure that people are giving out of guilt giving under pressure. You're not really giving to God you giving to that person that is putting that pressure on you, but you are not giving to God remember God owns everything and God doesn't need your money to keep the world going. God has kept the world going before you were even born and God has everything is just a metal stewardship. God says I give you some and I want you to keep giving some so that you can always have some

Together got that I give you some so that you can give some and continue to give so that my floor blessing. Continue. You never give Under Pressure. You never give reluctantly keep your money. If you ever have doubt about giving keep your money, you are not ready to give until you are ready to give it with your heart completely is it says woe to you scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites. That's the word again playing there are so many plain actors today kind of problem with this is because people are not reading their Bibles people are being manipulated by Because they are not reading the Bible and that's why I begged you and day in and day out and week-out. I am pleading with you. Do you read your Bible? God does complain to you and and when you see a fake you are able to see it the faithful what it is, but if we are not reading our Bible we are given into every win of Doctrine says woe to you scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites for you time and deal and comings and have neglected the way to your matter of the Lord Justice and mercy and faithfulness dudes. You ought to have done without neglecting the others. You see hear God is not against you typing. It's it's totally fine what we see in the Bible in the New Testament tithing is more of an Old Testament principles. God called you to be counterculture and what God calls you to is call you to generosity you see our giving is not optional and should be generous. I would giving should not be optional. Actually giving must not be optional and it must be generous. If you look at the text are giving is expected in Barstow. It says if you give no it says when you give you see giving is expecting giving is an assumption. If you are a believer in Christ, you need to give to the work of God and you need to give to those in need you have. No choice in the matter. Sorry going to bring some of your budgets. But while you were sitting in the church, then they were pressuring you to give him a lot of time does preachers feel like they have to do that. It's because of the people sitting in the Pew also warned that being generous would do not understand what it means to get. So it's a two-way street when you look at it is because people have not doing it and now others feel like they need to have the pressure playing God to make you give On the first day of the week that means giving needs to be regular giving needs to be a regular thing that every Christian do not all of us get paid on a weekly basis. Some of us 2 weeks some of us monthly whatever the time when you get paid guy says you need to write something and you see their doesn't say 10% to be generous giving this to be a good starting point as you study scripture in Deuteronomy 57211. This one will blow your mind because you shall have no other gods before me. Actually, I put the room scripture they are but it should be it should be Deuteronomy 15. Deuteronomy 15 verse 7 to 11 and I will read that to you. Deuteronomy 15

verse 7 to 11. Let me read that to you. If among you one of your brothers should become poor in any of your towns within you'll land that the Lord your God is giving you you shall not Harden your heart or short your hand against your brother, but you shall open in your hands. To hear him and let him sufficient for his need whatever it maybe take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your for it and you say the seventh year the year of release is near and your I look grudgingly on your brother and you give him nothing you give him nothing and he cried to the Lord against you and you be guilty of sin the seventh-year uc4 for the Jewish people if anybody owe you any money on the seventh year you had to forgive their death. So that's why he's talking about their self. People was not going to help his brother right now because I'm on the sixth year because the seventh year. I'm going to have to forgive that death. You see giving you the matter of the heart that says, you know, you have to check your heart you'll adore you give whether the person can pay back or not and inverse 11. It says you shall give to him freely in your heart shall not begrudging. A grudging when you give to him because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake undertake for there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore. I command you you shall open wide your hand to your brother to the needy and do the poor in your land. The God says, I don't want anybody with a clenched fist. I want you to open your hands to do those in need you need to help people who are in need and as Believers, we have no choice. But to do that in Act 11 verse 29, it says of the disciples determine everyone according to his ability to send relief to the Brothers Living in Judea. You see it there everyone according to his ability. So do not say. Oh, I don't have anything to give you know, things are tight right now. Everyone according to his ability if you get $1,000 a week if you give $100 that's great, but somebody will only get a hundred and if they give that $10 a week, it's the same God says we need to do it according to our ability acts 10 verse 2 to the development will see your God with all his house. So I gave that giving to others generously to the people and prayed continually to God you see a lot of us. We have the tendency when somebody bringing it to our attention. We just going to pray for you brother. But God says no and Jim speak about that also pray for you know, God bless, you know, it doesn't mean that you are able to meet that need Jim says and an actor says you need that need 2nd Corinthians 8 1/2 we want you to know Brothers about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia for in a severe test of Affliction their Abundance of Joy and their extreme poverty have over fluid in a wealth of generosity the abundance of joy and where what extreme poverty have overflowed and a wealth of generosity on their part for they gave according to their means and as I can testify beyond their means beyond their means of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the sense to those people that work extremely pool, but they were begging

to have the favor to give what God calls us to that's why we are called to be counterculture. If we want to be attractive and authentic to the world. We have to give generously and we need to do that were filed apocracy doing it with the right motivation in our heart. Remember Matthew 5:14 says give to the one who Backs from you and did not refuse the one who would borrow from you Proverbs. 3:27 says do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to do it. And lastly I was giving is a matter of spiritual growth and it is also rewarded. Our giving is a matter of spiritual growth. And it is also rewarded the real need when you look at Deuteronomy 15 7 through 11. Make sure you read it on your own Deuteronomy 15:7 211c. The last lie, our giving is a matter of spiritual growth and it is also rewarded in Acts 20:35. It says in all things. I have shown you that by working hard in your hands. We must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus how he himself said it is more what Blessed to give than to receive. It is more blessed to give than it is to receive C. Giving is a matter of spiritual growth. God rewards. Those would give I love the Dave Ramsey folks as we steady as we learn from Financial Peace University. I love the way you put it that's a given is not a math issue. It is a heart issue giving is not a mess issue. It is a heart issue it is where your priorities are it is where your priorities are. The first thing you need to do is to set aside something for God because you have to remember God give you all that you have so God give you 100% but he acts you just using the example of typing again, you know my position on this God wants us to be generous. So God give you a hundred percent you get to keep 90 you focus on the 10% This is how I that's a lot but this is it is more blessed to give than to receive. Is it giving is there really a matter of the heart? It is not a messy shoe. See you Bible says he's then you have not been faithful in unrighteous wealth that needs money in this world. You will and trust you.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times. You may abound in every good work as it is written. He will supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the Harvest of your righteousness. You see that he's in the picture of a farmer What does the farmer the farmer has to take all their seeds and putting them on the ground trusting God trusting that they will grow and it's the same thing.
