Comie "Lee" Hallmark, Jr., age 75, of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, the 16th day of July 2020, at his home. Lee fought a battle with cancer for 3 years and never once complained.  He was born on the 19th day of January 1945, in San Angelo, Texas, to parents Comie Lee Hallmark, Sr. and Billie Ray (Havins) Hallmark.
Lee was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart and an Army Veteran. Lee loved traveling with his wife, Jan of 45 years, spending time with his children and grandchildren, working in the yard, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Lee never met a stranger and was always willing to help a friend. He was known as a mentor and a heavy influence on numerous peers in his professional career in the oil and gas industry.
He is preceded in death by his parents Comie and Billie Hallmark and sister Donna McCann.
Lee is survived by his wife Jan Hallmark of Elkhart, Texas; children, Carl Hallmark and wife Iva of Elkhart, Texas, Steve Hallmark and wife Chérie of Krum, Texas, Shila Jackson and husband Travis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Cody Hallmark and wife Angela of Elkhart, Texas; grandchildren, Justin, Kaycie, Katelynn, Kaden, Isabella, Hope, Faith, Taylor, Lauren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
It is hard for a child to think more of God than he thinks of his own father. The bar was set high for you. Lee made it easy for you to have a high opinion of God, because he was a good father. He showed this by the way he loved you. As the family grew, so did his capacity to love all of you. He provided for you. He protected you. He might have even gotten you out of a jam every now and again. He was a great example of how God looks at His children.
When Jesus walked this earth, right before He went to the cross AAMOF, He told His disciples about a place that was being prepared for those who would place their faith in Him.
John 14:1–6 GNB
“Do not be worried and upset,” Jesus told them. “Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am. You know the way that leads to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going; so how can we know the way to get there?” Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me.
“I am going to prepare a place...” “You know the way to the place...” Heaven is a real place. “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name.
The creativity of God continues there. He is ‘preparing’ it for us.
God’s desire is for us to be there with Him. That’s the whole point of the life of Jesus on earth. The cross. The resurrection. The promise of His return. Remember creation and the Garden of Eden? God craves fellowship with mankind.
Lee is there. He put his faith in Jesus a long time ago. He lived and served out of a fullness in his heart that God put there.
He has bowed before his savior. He has offered his most humble hallelujah. He has seen what we can only imagine. What do you think he would say if he could peek back into our world for just a minute? It is worth it! Dont let anything keep you from getting here. Do whatever it takes to get here!
Folks, what it takes is clear. Believe in God, believe also in Me… what He told His disciples is the same thing He tells us.
Psalm 1:1–3 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
