Faith Looks to Christ’s Provision

“God will not give you more than you can handle...” NOT true. He WILL allow you to be placed in situations that are beyond your resources in order to cause you to trust HIM.
Think of the Israelites in the wilderness.... they could not manufacture food for themselves. They had to learn that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word from the mouth of God. They had to trust God as their Provider.
200 denarii = 8 months wages. 5 loaves and two fish, a small boy’s lunch
When the disciples resources were exhausted, then Jesus blessed the food and the miracle of God’s provision took place.
John: An Introduction and Commentary i. Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand (6:1–15)

Blessed be thou, Yahweh our God, king of the world who causes bread to come forth from the earth.’

Psalm 65:9–13 ESV
You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.
Practically, when facing a great need give Christ all you have trust Him to provide the rest.
What impossible situation are you facing? Look to the Provision of Christ!
Faith looks to Christ’s Provision, not man’s resources.

Faith Relies on Christ’s Power

Their rowing was a labor late into the night.
Mark 6:48–49 ESV
And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out,
Christ will allow you to be placed in situations that are beyond your strength, so that you come to trust Him.
2 Corinthians 12:8–10 ESV
Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
What situation are you facing that is beyond your power? Turn to Christ, boast in His great strength!

Faith Clings to Christ’s Promise

You say, I have been looking to his resources, I have been looking to his power, but I still feel overwhelmed!
Matthew 14:28–33 ESV
And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Cling to His promise! I will never leave you!
“O soul are you weary and troubled, no light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior and life more abundant and free! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
