EVANGELISM/WITNESS/OUTREACH

Colossians 4:2–6 ESV
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
1 Thessalonians 1:4–6 ESV
For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit,
2 Timothy 1:8–9 ESV
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,
2 Timothy 4:5 ESV
As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV
but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
This verse from Peter reveals how simple evangelism can be. It isn't about arguing someone into submission. It's about gently and respectfully sharing why you have your hope is in Christ. It doesn't need to be contentious or difficult. It should be natural and sincere.
Eyewitness testimony is important, because it provides important insights into precisely what had happened. Live observers to events are crucial to the establishment of reasonably accurate histories. Witness interviews help to fill in blanks in an investigation. They are valuable in the development of criminal cases and are often highly persuasive when testifying before juries. Eyewitness accounts, however, are probably more important to those investigating events than in those attempting to tie specific individuals to a crime. *
