I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

The word "hinder" (enekopsen PWS: 1953) means to cut in, to edge in, to interfere, to obstruct. The picture is still that of the running track. While the Galatians had been running the Christian race, some had edged in on them and begun to hinder and interfere with their running. They were no longer obeying the truth. They were now trying to approach God by some other way than Christ.
