Intercession for Saints - v26-27

Our prayers

Triune Intercession

John 14:16 ESV
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
Hebrews 7:25 ESV
Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
Revelation 5:6–9 ESV
And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,
Hebrews 4:16 ESV
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Prayer is not what we do so that we will not BE alone.
In prayer, we ARE not alone. We have God Almighty in full trinitarian participation collecting, offering, and receiving our prayers, and where there is a gap or want, the Spirit fills it on our behalf, no less than when we were want of Righteousness, Jesus filled the gap with Himself

Security for Saints - v28-30

God’s Sovereignty

Matthew 13:33 ESV
He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
Philippians 1:6 ESV
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

God’s foreknowledge

1 Peter 1:18–21 ESV
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
Isaiah 42:8–9 ESV
I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
The limitless foreknowledge of God is comfort to the believer; there is NOTHING beyond His notice; nothing he overlooks

God’s Faithfulness

NO ONE is lost from v29 to v30
ALL things!
There is no context or circumstance in which that is not true

Victory in Jesus! - v31-39

God for His people - v31-32

Condemnations -v33-34

Job 1:6–7 ESV
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”
Satan as the kid at the chalkboard
Revelation 12:10 ESV
And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
When Satan tempts me to despair, And tells me of the guilt within, Upward I look, and see him there Who made an end of all my sin.
Because a sinless Savior died, My sinful soul is counted free; For God, the Just, is satisfied To look on Him and pardon me To look on Him and pardon me
Revelation 12:11 ESV
And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
Romans 8:34 ESV
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

VICTORY! -v35-39

For those too young; not yet being drawn to faith and repentance, this is the security, the comfort, the victory that awaits you when you come to Christ believing.
For those currently awakened to your sins and your need, yet still for whatever reason rebelling in your heart and mind, know that unless and until you surrender your all and let God do his work, you have no part in this text or message of comfort
For those who are today resting secure in the finished work of Christ Jesus, recall today that there is no force in the universe who is able to undo what God has done in you; press into Christ and his word and just see what he may do through you!
