Presence of God
Presence of God
The TabernacleIn Exodus, we read of the Exodus from bondage, the Law, and the Tabernacle.God gave Moses quite elaborate instructions for the construction of the Tabernacle after a pattern He showed Him.There were details pertaining to material, size, color, layers, furniture, utensils, layout. Then we read
Exodus 40:1–2 ESV1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “On the first day of the first month you shall erect the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
Put it all together now - set it up!
Exodus 40:33 ESV33 And he erected the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.
What happened? What was the result of Moses following God’s instructions on worship-
Exodus 40:34–35 ESV34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
Exodus 40:38 ESV38 For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.
The Presence of God, the glory of God comes when we worship Him in accordance with His instructions.
This pattern is repeated in Scripture
The TempleWhen the temple of Solomon was erected, the same thing happened.2 Chron. 2.1 Now Solomon purposed to build a temple for the name of the LORD2 Chron 3.1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. His father David had all the plans for David was a man after God’s own heart.2 Chron. 5.1 Thus all the work that Solomon did for the house of the LORD was finished. And Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, and stored the silver, the gold, and all the vessels in the treasuries of the house of God.5.2 - we read that they brought the ark of the covenant to the TempleThe priests cameAll the Levitical singers came with their instrumentsThe trumpeters joined them
2 Chronicles 5:13–14 ESV13 and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the Lord, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever,” the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
