Forgive To Be Forgiven

Who Has Done You Wrong

We all have someone that has done us wrong in some form or fashion.

The schoolyard bully that was always taking your milk money.
Your best friend who stole your girlfriend or boyfriend.
The thief that came up on your porch and stole your bicycle.
The man that killed your pregnant wife and unborn child.

Forgiveness Releases Grace & Mercy

Forgiveness Reflects God’s Character

As Christians, we are to reflect God’s character. With the Holy Spirit giving us the power to do so we as Christians are to reflect God’s love, grace, mercy and all the other characteristics of God to the world. That is why we are here. Christian means little Christ.

Forgiveness Starts A New Story

the act of forgiveness is the place were a new story can start. When Saul encountered the risen Christ. God forgave Sual and the New Story about the Apostle Paul started.
We know this is true because of two different passage of scripture.
One is Romans 8:28

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

There are some situations in your lives that if we want to see God work together for our good, we are going to have to forgiven someone.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

When we are forgiven by God, grace is released into our hearts and lives so that we can become new creations. Not only do we become new creations, but all the “bad stuff” we have done God begins to start working that our for our good and His glory.
And because we are new creation, we also start to reflect the character God and we wan to do that because Jesus has given us two things: One He reconciled us to himself and two he gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
But if we won’t forgive another human being God says, You can’t reflect who I am to others. You can’t reconcile others to me when you’re not reconciled yourself. And I would rather not forgive you and not give you my grace than have people think what your doing is ok.
God says, “I didn’t treat you like that and I am not going to allow you to treat someone I love like that.”
