Are any of these jobs unfair? How?
How does attitude affect a job?
How does attitude affect those who work with us?
Insert Dirty Jobs video here...
How does this man’s attitude toward his job change his ability to do his job?
Why does attitude play such an important role in work?
No matter what job we have to do, we can do it with an attitude that lets others see Christ in us.

Christ’s Confidence
Christ’s Confidence
Read Luke 23:46
46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.
How do Jesus’ last words on the cross show His confidence in God’s plans?
A Christian’s Confidence
A Christian’s Confidence
Describe the tone or mood of Colossians 3:15-17.
15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
The next set of verses, Colossians 3:18-21, are like “house rules” for a Christian family. Read these rules.
18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
What do these verses say about roles and attitudes in a Christian marriage?
Look at verses 20-21
Look at verses 20-21
What does this say about God’s design for parent-child relationships?
Now Read Colossians 3:22-4:1
22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only while being watched and in order to please them, but wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.
23 Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters,
24 since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.
25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for whatever wrong has been done, and there is no partiality.
1 Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, for you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
Let’s assume that Paul’s instructions can apply to employees and employers today.
What does he say our attitude should be toward work?
Our employers?
Our employees?
Why?
Paul wasn’t living in some ideal world when he wrote these instructions. He knew life wasn’t always fair or just the way he wanted. But Paul chose to trust God no matter what was going on in his life.
Suppose your life is rotten right now.
Why can you, as a child of God, still follow these instructions?
Look at Col. 3:17, 23-25; 4:5-6
17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.
6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Come Clean Checklist
Come Clean Checklist
Christ’s resurrection from the dead is an important event of the Christian faith. Using this checklist, take a serious look at your faith today. This test is private and answers don’t have to be shared. Please be as honest as possible.
How real is Jesus Christ to you?
How real is Jesus Christ to you?
He is someone I learn about in church and Sunday school.
I call on Him for help when I’m in trouble.
My grandmother and parents talk about Him, and I’m interested too.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
I appreciate Christ and everything, but He doesn’t relate to my world.
Not only am I a disciple of Christ, I want to fellowship with Him regularly.
Christ, who’s that? Did I miss something while I was out last week?
Christ is worthy to be praised because...
Christ is worthy to be praised because...
He is the true and living God.
He lived a sinless life and died a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
He created all things and holds all things together.
He made a way for us to have a relationship with God the Father.
He has all power, authority, and control over everything.
He has the ability to cast souls into hell and admit souls into heaven.
What hinders my relationship with God?
What hinders my relationship with God?
I have not made a wholehearted commitment to Him.
Sometimes I forget to confess my sins.
I can be rebellious against my parents at times.
I hold grudges against people sometimes.
I don’t read my Bible or pray enough.
It’s hard for me to forgive when someone does me wrong.
I consistently do things that I know go directly against what the Bible says.
I am living as a hypocrite—saying one thing but doing another.
How far are you willing to go to remove any hindrances in your fellowship with God?
How far are you willing to go to remove any hindrances in your fellowship with God?
It depends on what I have to do.
I’m willing to do whatever it takes.
I think I’ll be OK without Christ.
Now is not a good time.
If I have to give up something important to me, I’ll have to think about it.
I’m scared, but I’m willing to try.
CONFLICT at Home
CONFLICT at Home
“Clean up your room!”
“How many times do I have to say it?”
“You don’t have to yell I’m right here.”
“Get in there then and do something!”
Slowly, Jayden walked into his room and closed the door. He began dishing on his mom. “Why does she have to treat me like that?” He picked up his clothes off the floor and stuffed them in the hamper.
Sound familiar?
Why do you think conflicts like this occur at home?
Why do we often fight with the ones we love?
Maybe his mom had a bad day.
How might Jayden try to understand the source of his mom’s anger and make things right?
What would you do if you were Jayden?
How can doing everything for Jesus help us in our homes?
What kind of parent do you think you’ll be someday?
Empty Water Bottles
Empty Water Bottles
You probably see this water bottle as trash. Well, it is, but it can also have other uses.
Other than as a drinking bottle what are some other uses?
a bank for coins, a planter, a scoop, a reminder…
These bottles can have many uses when you stop to think about it.
How would thinking about our jobs in different ways help our attitudes towards them?
How can we do difficult jobs with a better attitude?
How will we benefit from having better attitudes toward our work?
Get an empty water bottle and write on it a reminder to do everything for the Lord!
Some tasks will be hard; some, smelly; others, frustrating. God wants us to do everything for Him, no matter what it might be. If your sister asks you to help her with her homework or your parents need help with the trash this week, remember, do it for the Lord!

Time of Reflection
Time of Reflection
For many Christians, Easter is a season of self-examination, sorrow for sin, and renewed commitment to Christ. It is also a time of reflection and thankfulness for what Christ has done for us on the cross.
The apostle Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ” (Gal. 2:20), and “I want to know Christ-yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” (Phil. 3:10). What does it mean to be crucified with Christ, to share in His sufferings?
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up,” James said (4:10). This should be our attitude all the time, but this is a time we can focus on humbling ourselves before the Lord. It is a time to remind us that the humiliation of the cross precedes the exaltation of the empty tomb.
