Whom do we trust?

A fundamental question we ask, whether we know it or not.

Character matters.

This is true always but definitely true in matters of trust. To trust without character is to set oneself up for pain.

The past matters.

The greatest predictor of the future behavior is past behavior. Yes we can change. This is the hope of the Gospel but until there is evidence of change the past is what we go on.

Let me tell you a story.

The story of Israel and the OT.

Christ is the King.

This is the truth of all of Scripture. We have earthly rulers and kings but there is only one ultimate king. His name is Jesus. He said “I Am”.

The King requires a response.

We must respond to this king. Now or later we will respond.

We must remember.

We can not have short memories. Sometimes this is good but we must remember well. Not looking back, as I am prone to, to an era that no longer exists. But instead remembering the character of my King.

We must pass it on.

We cannot assume, anymore, it will just happen.

Be a storyteller.

Our culture loves stories. We thrive with good stories. May we as Christians be great storytellers of the Lord.

Christ loves you.

This is his character. This will not change.

Christ is near.

In the idea that he is not distant but we have glimpses of him every week.

Christ’s hands and arms are open.

He is not looking in disgust but love.
