The Crux of the Matter
Message by Bishop Bryan N. Walker Sr.
Scriptures: Luke 16:19-31, John 11:1-15
The name Lazarus appears in the books of Luke and John.
▪︎One was a beggar (Lk. 16)
▪︎One was the brother of Martha and Mary of Bethany (Jn. 11)
There has been much debate and dialogue on whether this is the same person that is in the parable and the story...looking to prove a theological point, but if that is the sole focus, you have missed "The Crux of the Matter" of what Jesus was trying to get us to see.
Does your faith allow God to move mountains on your behalf?
Sometimes your reward is a relief!
Temporal living vs. Eternal living
The lesson (1): you can't wait til the last minute to get right. The rich man had it all, but all of that was temporal.
Resurrecting those things which seem to be dead. If we have the faith to trust and believe...i.e. dreams, goals, and visions we have been given.
Lesson 2: Belief in the redemptive love of Jesus Christ even to redeem you in the clutches of death.
...yet shall you live
Don't wait too late to accept Christ
Don't be like the rich man looking up from hell, crying out for salvation.
The things we have don't make us who we are.
