A servant who acts wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully,
And will share in the inheritance among brothers.
He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.
The first to plead his case seems right,
Until another comes and examines him.
For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord.
You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you. For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor. To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless; and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure; when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
For the Lord loves justice
And does not forsake His godly ones;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
Justice as an attribute of Holiness
O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Hesed as an attribute of Holiness
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
“Whoever sheds man’s blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God
He made man.
But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will be delivered.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
