Communion

John 6:33 KJV 1900
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

life in the absolute sense, life as God has it, that which the Father has in Himself, and which He gave to the Incarnate Son to have in Himself, John 5:26, and which the Son manifested in the world,

John 6:35 KJV 1900
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Offering

Luke 6:38 KJV 1900
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Rooted And Grounded - NOT OFFENDED

Mark 4:16–17 KJV 1900
And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
Receive it with gladness
Have no root in themselves
when Affliction arises for Words sake
Immediately offended
The Gospel is great news -
We deserve nothing but He gives us everything.
Sins penalty had to be paid and He paid it for us.
We are redeemed and given an inheritance just by accepting Him for Who He is.
Receive it with gladness -
James says receive with meekness
James 1:21–22 KJV 1900
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Receive - welcome humbly, acknowledging and highly valuing
Engrafted word - attached, implanted
Able to save our souls.
He wants us to be MORE than excited hearers, but also to BE DOERS so we would endure Trials and come forth as pure gold.
(Have) No root in themselves -
The Rooted can’t be uprooted.
John 15 speaks about the branches that are not connected to the vine. He doesn’t want us in the fire, He wants us to bear fruit, more fruit and much fruit.
Develop connection with intention. More connections with people help us to see different perspectives and perceptions.
We need one another -
Ephesians says, every joint shall supply
Pauls calls us the Body of Christ.
One can chase a thousand
Where two or more agree there He is.
It is not good for mankind to be alone.
When Affliction comes for the word’s sake
All who desire to live a Godly Life will suffer persecution - 2 Tim. 3:12
Christian commitment is countercultural in our selfish, self-centered, self-absorbed society.
The truth is we save our lives when we give them. Life really begins when we lose our lives for Someone worth dying for. Luke 9:24
Luke 9:24 KJV 1900
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Immediately they are offended
Immediately -
We are exhorted as believers to quickly
listen,
forgive,
and love others. Prov 19:11
Proverbs 19:11 ESV
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
-Offended with God.
-Offended with a brother
because of iniquity the love of many shall grow cold - Matt 24:12
What are we to do? Exhort one another as long as it is called Today - Hebrews 3:13
Hebrews 3:13 KJV 1900
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Determine to be unoffendable
Recognize the real enemy. Save your brother
Ephesians says we wrestle not against flesh and blood.
James says the one who converts a sinner saves a soul from death.
Life is going to happen. People are going to overreact and do things we need to be merciful when they do.
Hurt people hurt people - there is a reason why they act the way they do.
Love believes people can change.
What should we do about offense?
Go To Your Brother if you are offended - Matthew 18:15-17
Go to your brother is he is offended with you. Matthew 5:23-24
Matthew 5:23–24 KJV 1900
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Altar Call -
You want your heart to be fertile ground and not hard ground. You’ve dealt with some hard things in life and want to be better not bitter. You want the Word to grow deep and see great fruitfulness come from your life.
You want to welcome the Word with gladness
Desire the Word of God to be rooted deep in your heart
So when affliction arises your faith will come forth like pure gold
and be unoffendable in these last days so your love won’t grow cold and you fall away.
