Transition Part 1
Move
Gen 12:1-3
Have you ever noticed that the things you are most comfortable with, most familiar with, can often be the things that restrict you the most?
This tent is pretty comfortable, shady and cool, dry, warm at night
Sometimes the most familiar can be the most restrictive – no room to grow in this tent
In Acts the disciples kept going back to Jerusalem because it was familiar……
But Jerusalem is where persecution was, yet they kept going back there
Why did God allow that?
Because God did not want them to allow what He had use to bless them become so familiar that it
would incarcerate them
God forced the disciples out of the familiar and comfortable into the greater purpose of God
Our comforts, as Christians, can give us a false sense of the world
In your circle you are comfortable, things are good, everyone agrees with you
What if God wants to take us out of our comfort zones?
What if those familiar comforts have kept us from experiencing all God has promised for us?
Why do we have a propensity to stay in comfort at the cost of better things?
Sometimes God allows the things we have come to trust for comfort to be the cause of struggle to force us
out and into greater things
God wants to make the familiar so uncomfortable that we will move into the fantastic
Duet 32:11 – an Eagle stirs up the nest to make the chic so uncomfortable that they have to leave
in order to learn to fly
Gen 13:14-17
(vs. 14) – After Lot had gone then the Lord spoke……..
(vs. 17) – Arise and walk ……..
Its my will to give it to you but you got to get out of this tent……
You might be satisfied in the tent but God says “I’m NOT satisfied for you to stay in the
tent – I got the north south east and west – I WILL GIVE IT TO YOU!!!!”
What has God willed for your life that you have not received because you are satisfied to stay in
your nice neat comfortable tent?……..
(vs. 18) – then Abram removed his tent
Before we leave here today some of yall are gonna remove your tent…..
I love this because God is leaving nothing out – north, south, east and west – full circle….
We see where Abram was, where he is, and where he will be
When you sat down in that seat this morning those three things sat down with you –
where you were
where you are
and where you will be……
No one will ever understand you until they know where you were
You cannot deal with God unless you know where you are – (God ask Adam, “where are you”)
And you cannot progress if you don’t have a vision of where you will be
Let me tell you right now, if you want the promises of God you are gonna have to let go of that (where
you were and where you are) because this (where you will be) will not be that!
We are trying to move forward by just redecorating the old tent……..
Regardless of how you repaint the walls of the old tent its still the old tent – and you are left wondering
why you are still stuck – where you are right now is still where you were
What God wants for you is not that!
NO!!!! God wants us to move!!!
It is no accident that the Bible says after Lot was removed the Lord spoke
There are some things that God cannot show you in the presence of Lot………..
It is only when you mature to the degree that you are prepared to remove Lot that you can listen to what
God is saying
Because Lot is a symbol of your attachment to where you were……
Lot may not at all be a person at all
Lot is comfortable, Lot is familiar
Lot is Linus’ blanket……
What are you trying to drag into your destiny that is a symbol of your history?
What is it that God cannot say to you in the presence of Lot?
Think about this – there are people and things God wants to put in your life that He can’t because
Lot is there – the only person Lot makes feel good is you
At some point, perhaps today, you are gonna have to decide – do you love what’s next more than
you love Lot?
Cause if you don’t you are just gonna stay in the tent!
When I learned to drive it was in a parking “lot” – no traffic, no police, no people in the way
Just drove around in a safe circle going no where
Does life feel like you been driving around in circles in a parking “lot”
When Lot disappeared, God reappeared – how hard was it for Abram to give up Lot, even though
he knew Lot had issues
What is it that is difficult for you to give up in order to hear God speak again?
I am not talking about some little goosy prophecy
I am talking about a life altering word that cause you to MOVE
IS THERE ANYBODY HERE TODAY THAT WANTS TO HEAR GOD SPEAK A FRESH
WORD?
IF SO YOU GONNA HAVE TO GET OFF THE PARKING “LOT” AND GET IN THE HIGHWAY
YOU WONT EVER LEAVE THE “LOT” IF YOUR AFRAID OF THE TRAFFIC
YOUR GONNA HAVE TO MOVE OUT OF THE COMFORT AND FAMILIAR
YOU WOULDN’T BE HERE THIS MORNING IF GOD DIDN’T HAVE MORE FOR YOU THAN WHAT YOU HAVE HAD ON YOUR PARKING “LOT”
TELL SOMEBODY “MOVE”!!!!!!!!!
When Lot was removed God spoke – when all that makes you feel comfortable is removed then God
speaks
All that noise that you been putting up with in order to keep Lot is keeping you from hearing God
Touch your neighbor and say, “When Lot leaves God will speak”…….
Get rid of Lot!!!!!!!
Lot is hindering you from moving and hearing God!!!!
I am tellin ya “when Lot leaves God will speak”…….
Abram hadn’t heard from God in years
Wondering when God is gonna speak again……
The problem isn’t with God Abram – ITS WITH LOT!!!
And if you don’t believe what I am telling ya is truth – ask Joshua about Achan…..
What you won’t kill will kill you!!!!!!!!
When God finally speaks notice what He says, “Look” – vision out……..
Be honest, how much of your struggle has been spent on looking in and not out…….
There is a reason that as Moses got older he climbed higher
He was far more effective when he could look out instead of looking in
Now we done with where you were now, (vs. 14) - “Look out from where you are”
See what God wants…..
God told one prophet – sure I will send the rain but you gonna need to dig some ditches cause you are
thinking too small cause when I send the rain everyone is gonna know it was me that did it!
You have let your vision of what God can and will do be limited by the Lot of where you were and by the
Lot of where you currently are
Its time to “Look out” at where God wants to take you
Your “tent” will not hold what God wants to give you because there is not enough room
Let me prove to you that you are gonna have to leave your tent because its not big enough
Everything you are praying about is about where you are right now
Everything you are worried about is about where you are right now
What if God is more concerned about where He wants you to go than where you are right now?
God didn’t come into your life to sit in a parked car with you
The reason God isn’t answering you about where you are is because God is tryin to point you to where you
are going
Why are we so busy worrying about which direction we are supposed to go when God said He was trying to give us all of it?
The North, The South, The East, and The West….
You see “Lot” has been the one trying to lock you down in one direction – Sodom….
Your Lot has been pulling you toward destruction and you been living with it cause its familiar
BUT - As soon as Lot was gone God removed the limits……..
Its time to “Look out” from where you are, Look out beyond the Lot that limits you and embrace all that
God has for you
Get out of that tent – MOVE
(vs.17) – “Arise and walk”
Once you see it go ahead and start walk in it!!!
Take a walk in your destiny, in your future, in where God is about to take ya, in the impossible, in the
supernatural
Touch your neighbor and say “take a walk in it”………..
You can’t take a walk in a tent you gotta MOVE
(vs. 18) – “So Abram MOVED”
2020 has tried to lock us down in a tent but God has said “Arise and walk”
Your “Lot”………… has tried to lock you down in a tent but God has said “Arise and walk”
When Lot was removed God said The North, The South, The East and The West – WALK IN IT
Its time for you and I to get beyond our tent and Lot
Realize this – all the while Abram was in the tent and dealing with Lot – the Land was waiting on him
You see God had to move Abram to move Abram’s seed –
God is calling us to move and leave Lot not just for our own sake but for the sake of those who come
behind us
There are people who are waiting for you outside of your tent
The world is waiting on you to get rid of your Lot and remove your tent
When Abram finally moved God moved him into Mamre = Oaks
God moved him into a shady place that was high and lifted up
God has a place prepared for him and for his children and for his children’s children
God deals with generational curses with generational blessings
But we gotta get out of our tents and get rid of Lot!!!!!!
