Bride: Please stand

Welcome

In this beautiful place, we gather as a community of friends to celebrate Caitlene and Dan’s wedding.
God’s first gift was breathing life into us and turning us toward each other to live in equality and unity. Today, Daniel and Caitlene are affirming their love for each other and to enter into this sacred union.

Giving Away of the Bride

Parents, are you willing, now and always to support and strengthen this marriage with your prayers, encouragement, love, and support? (Respond: We will)
Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
PLEASE BE SEATED

Scripture - Abigail Elwell

Prayer - Tom Harkaway

Vows

Do you Daniel take Caitlene to be your wife, and in doing so, give your life to her only, putting her interests above your own in times of prosperity and times of need; and living with her in the commitment of faith, the security of hope, and the joy of love as long as you both live?
Do you Caitlene, take Daniel to be your husband, and in doing so, give your life to him only, putting his interests above your own in times of prosperity and times of need; and living with him in the commitment of faith, the security of hope, and the joy of love as long as you both live?

Scripture and Message

Colossians 3:12–15 ESV
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Look around. This is your cloud of witnesses. We love you. We respect you.
It has been a privilege to have spent the past months with you as you’ve prepared not for this day but for your marriage.
You have done the important and sometimes hard work each in your own unique way. That’s good because it doesn’t stop here.
You both know how to work…have fun and relax. You both are perceptive and sensitive in different ways. You have already learned how to contribute to other people and the world. And there is so much more to come.
Here’s what we see: compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another, forgiveness, gratitude. God’s word living in you - in different and complementing ways.
We thank God for you. We believe in you.
These things we see are the foundation of commitment. And they’re growing, developing.
The difference between an ok marriage and a thriving, flourishing marriage is the time and energy you both put into cultivating these things we see in you. The more you cultivate them, the more you will contribute to life, to the world than what either of you could by yourselves.
God brought you together not for your own sake but for the purpose of his kingdom - the way he intended life to be. You two will join the rest of us married people as a witness to the world of the nature of the life giving relationship between God and his people.
But don’t take yourselves too seriously. Love God fiercely, enjoy God. Love others fiercely. Enjoy them. Your joy is attractive and infectious. May it always be so.
WE BELIEVE IN YOU.

Exchange of Rings

You have brought rings to be the constant reminder of the lifelong commitment you are making today.
I, Dan take you Caitlene, to be my wedded wife; to have and to hold from this day forward; for better or worse, for richer or poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and cherish; till death do us part; according to God’s holy ordinance.
I Caitlene, take you Dan to be my wedded husband to have and to hold from this day forward; for better or worse, for richer or poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and cherish; till death do us part; according to God’s holy ordinance.

Unity Sand

Daniel and Caitlene have chosen the unity sand ritual as a demonstration of the choice they have made to become one. Similar to the unity candle, Daniel and Caitlene each have vials of sand with different colors and will be pouring them into a single container combining the colors. Once the small granules of sand are combined, it is impossible to separate the colors.
