13 A talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.
Introduction:
I am convinced that God wants to use this Church to do more than it does to help people from a recovery background.
we already have Celebrate Recovery on Thursday Night.
I also feel strongly that there are businesses down on the inside of people in this church.
not only does God want to use the businesses to provide for your Families, but also to employ others who may not have the best work ethic or even any skills.
the topics that we have been talking about are not only spiritual but also practical.
tonight we are going to talk about watching our mouths.
1. most people Gossip because they don’t see it as a bad thing.
1. most people Gossip because they don’t see it as a bad thing.
no kidding. Gossip is a sin. this is not a thing I think I have talked about much in my teaching ministry.
idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others:the endless gossip about Hollywood stars.
as a pastor one of the hardest things to learn about was disengaging in idle talk.
most of us would agree that telling a lie is bad. most of us have not considered the concept of idle talk. Just because something is true does not mean it is yours to share.
Gossip and idle talk are not that different from soap operas.in my life I have found the number one reason people gossip is to entertain themselves. how cheap is that?
People who gossip rarely have all the facts. ( the fact of the matter is that I have never know a gossip to have any of the most important facts. it seems they love to share in the humiliation of others.)
Churches are no different then Jr. High in many respects. people don’t stop to think about the power of their words.
2. The best way to stop gossip is to not receive it.

The New King James Version Chapter 26
20 Where there is no wood, the fire goes out;
And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.
21 As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire,
So is a contentious man to kindle strife.
22 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
And they go down into the inmost body.
if no body wants to hear the gossip their is no one to receive it.
people who are contentious tend to be drawn to strife.
people often think of gossip as only the person spreading it.
3. Every one could fall victim to all Gossip.
3. Every one could fall victim to all Gossip.
3 Honor widows who are really widows. 4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God. 5 Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day. 6 But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives. 7 And these things command, that they may be blameless. 8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 Do not let a widow under sixty years old be taken into the number, and not unless she has been the wife of one man, 10 well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
11 But refuse the younger widows; for when they have begun to grow wanton against Christ, they desire to marry, 12 having condemnation because they have cast off their first faith. 13 And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. 14 Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15 For some have already turned aside after Satan. 16 If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows.
13 And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.
this verse is about “widows” but the key that they should not be busy bodies.
that means their is stuff.
