REMEMBER THE TIME

8  Is his mercy clean gone for ever?

Doth ohis promise fail †for evermore?

9  pHath God forgotten to be gracious?

qHath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

10  And I said, This is rmy infirmity:

But I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

11  I will remember the works of sthe LORD:

Surely tI will remember thy uwonders of old.

12  tI will meditate also of all xthy work, and ttalk of ythy doings.

13  Thy way, O God, is in zthe sanctuary:

aWho is so great a God as our God?

14  Thou art the God abthat doest uwonders:

Thou hast bbdeclared thy strength among the people.

15  Thou hast cwith thine arm cdredeemed thy people,

The sons of Jacob and ddJoseph. Selah.

16  efThe waters saw thee

As we continue to press onward from last week and continuing in Ps 77
i want to give thanks for the opportunity that god has afford me as well as all of you , who are here this morning .
give thanks that, the Lord has allowed me to be here another year and i know ,we cant be anywhere without God and to be in a place and to see prosperity for 21 years , i must say to Him ,Thank you Sir !
also want to give thanks to this great Church who bares the name New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist church
the greatest church i ever pastored .
with some of the greatest people the Lord has allowed me to meet , i stand excited whenever the allows me to stand behind this potium .to proclaim the gospel, to see my family[ mother ,father ,sisters and brother nieces and nephews . who are also here and worships with me ,
thankful to see my wife’s face and to see her here with me and enjoying worship with me .
its also good to know that we have members and friends who worship with us at home during this moment,which is made possible by our media ministry. thank god for the spreading of the gospel, via web page ,facebook, youtube.

After the Psalmist talks about or begins to reflect back on the memories of A God who can do what is needed and can be there when its needed ,because the scripture points out ,He was calling on eloheem [plural Gods ] meaning in this text or the text is suggesting ,he has more than one thing that he may be dealing with !
Simply put ,if he knew exactly what it was in a specific way ,he could call on the God for that particular thing ! Just as it was in the times in the days of Moses ,He wanted to know and the people Moses was going to deliver would want to know who sent him or better realized, what god would get the credit for the victory or even be noted if it was a defeat !
the Psalmist started the psalm off with a proclamation ,stating

I cried unto God with my voice,

Even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

which is reason for those who are reading or singing this psalm to praise God.
not every time you are talking is someone giving ear to you ,suggesting he ,knew that God not only listened but had every intention of doing something !
letting the reader know ,The god that can do all things and can be what is needed when you need him! he gave ear to Him with all intentions of taking care of what he needed or giving what is needed to go through .
in the psalm he stated ,how bad it was at a time in his life, his sore ran in the night and ceased not [ he needed the Lord to do something on his behalf so that his hands stayed stretched out all night expressing how urgent it was to him ]
his soul refused to be comforted ,no matter how much he was reaching out ,even while he was trying to reach out to him, his problems seemed to get the best of him ,to the point where the scripture says ,he was overwhelmed ,his problem had him perplexed!
Note: he had something that he just couldn’t shake although he was praying and reaching out to him, he just couldn’t seem to get hisself together !
REMEMBERING WRONG BUT WASN’T REWARDING
But in the midst of his soul being restless be begin to
REMEMBER THE RELIC

5  I have iconsidered iithe days of old,

jThe years of ancient times.

6  I call to remembrance my ksong lin the night:

I commune with mine own heart:

And my spirit made diligent search.

When you cant find comfort in the recent ,look at the Relic !
he looked back at the times when God had brought him through and not only what he did for him but what he did for The children of Israel .
the psalmist didn’t stay on those things that were not rewarding but he thought on those things of old and marked those things and when he marked those things and he thought of the music !

I call to remembrance my ksong lin the night

his song in the night [the song that was used the last time he had a issue ,he thought ,what song would help him in this time , what song helped him or was it ine that could help him now ?
N0te: ps 23 , ps 27 ,the lord is my light and salvation whom shall i fear ?
the Lord is the strength of my life whom shall b afraid

ps 90 lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. something that would help his down trodden spirit !
And we that were here last week witnessed this psalmist proclamation and as we look on deeper in this psalm ,we are picking up on a change.
we are now going from Proclamation to Reformation

1 Remembering helps make the turn

In the midst of his reform ,he throughs out a number of questions ,in which i would hope were rhetorical !

Will the Lord mcast off for ever?

And will he nbe favourable no more?

8  Is his mercy clean gone for ever?

Doth ohis promise fail †for evermore?

9  pHath God forgotten to be gracious?

qHath he in anger shut up his tender mercies?

the questions are rhetorical ,he utters them as a encouragement to himself as he may be talking to himself as David once did to himself when the very men he fought with and won battles with ,had stoning him in their eyes, and there was no one with pleasing tones, so he encoraged Himself in the Lord His God !
the psalmist is encouraging himself by asking himself will the Lord cast off=reject
him or His people? like one who launches off from a dock.
To go away as if he has something else to do,
Will he no longer be favavorable,=will he not show his favor or delight ,enjoy,pardon .
will the Lord [adonay] all mighty God [or the sovereign God] who is cant be told by anyone what he can or cant do, Will he not continue to be faithful in beingThe God who he is !
has something i said or done stopped Him from being who he is !
hav you ever thought that you have done something ,or thought something was done collectively ,has stopped Him from being good to His people ?
just as Job’s friends had said to JKob when he was going through ,all of these things have befallen you ,because you have done something to cause it !
he asked himself ,Is His mercy Gone forever ?,= kindness, reproof gone . asking himself ,is his reproof gone, Is He going to stop reproving his children ,telling them what h
He’s not pleased with or dislikes, which is as good father to his children, or has he said , go ahead im not caring for what happens to you !
Note ; A goo parent mayt appear to be mean in their reproofs or the way they have to treat their kids at times but, it doesnt dismiss the Love they have for you !
he ask does His Promise fail for ever ,does what he promise come to a end of an age or generation ?
he ask himself ,Has God stopped His promise based upon what happening with a generation or is he waiting to keep His promise for another generation?
is God holding back on His love for His people because of something that this generation has done ?
Hath God forgotten to be gracious=has the Almighty [mislayed] him, put him down and has forgotten where he out him?
and has he place me somewhere before he had supplied my need!
many times when we feel like the Lord isnt there ,its usually because ,we feel there is a need he has not supplied in the midst of going through.
you dont mind going through things if your needs are being meet !
As a Father supplies everything for the family ,when supplies are not there you want to know ,whats wrong , when he has proven to be a Good father!
he asked himself ,Hath he in his anger shut up His tender mercies?
has God =blown his nostrils] as a bull or angry animal ,and in His anger or him being enraged, shut up his tender mercies?
He asked has God; who is The El[ Almighty] shut up [legs tied together] has he been restrained , in other words ,has he lost the ability to come and help me ,is there some power that has the Lords legs tied up!
after listening tp those questions that he has asked himself and knowing the answeers to all of those questions it helps him make a turn!
thinking on times when a thought such as that may have come to his mind ,he realized , Theses thoughts shouldn’t be in his mind !
but thinking and asking himself those questions, help bring about the right mindset .and when you have the right mindset in the faith ,you can begin to move forward without fear!
After thinking and making the turn he discovers

REMEMBERING REVEALS THE TRUTH

HE SAYS AFTER THE PAUSE OF THE INSTRUMENTS IN THE PSALM
SELAH [ FOR US ,THINK ABOUT WHAT WAS SAID]

And I said, This is rmy infirmity:

This is his infirmity=his weakness ,this is what makes him feeble.
when he has those questions floating in his mind, they send him on a downward spiral .wondering if the Lord has the power ,wondering if he has done something that has caused God not to be kind or merciful to him, base upon him not always walking right ,wondering why trouble has com upon His people and will he sit still and not show his power .
is there something going on that has him sitting there ,like something has His hands tied up!
in his remembering ,he finds out ,the truth of the matter is ,God is who He is at all times but thee person that seems to get in the way ,is Himself we he has a hardship !
if we are mindful in the midst of our maladies ,we dont have to feel any misery !
Talking to himself revealed the truth of about himself but it also reminded him of the truth about God !

But I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

11  I will remember the works of sthe LORD:

Surely tI will remember thy uwonders of old.

12  tI will meditate also of all xthy work, and ttalk of ythy doings.

he put in his thoughts ,the works and the wonder of God [ the action or activities that take place ] they are controlled by God and along with those things that are happening ,his amazing works ,he has been a witness ]!
thinking on how God orchestrates the things in His world ,whether they appear to be good or bad God has a plan in place !
He realizes ,in the scope of what is going on,God is omnipotent [he has all power]
he sees no matter what has taken place in the past ,its never been greater than His power !
After coming to this truth, he says he will meditate also of all of God’s Actions .
in the midst of seeing God is in control ,he makes a promise , he will remember his works and meditate [murmur, ponder, ] keep in mind God is in control and he would tell others of God’s doings!
doings=effects, exploits. performance, opportunity .
he promises to let other know about the performances of God or the opportunities that have come in his life , that he thought were bad but it was a time that he could see how great the Zgod he serves is
The times that occur in our lives that we may feel are bad ,are just opportunities to see How Good the Lord is .
when we have things that come into our lives that we feel are a problem, Its just a opportunity for God to reveal He is Powerful !
As the Word of God Says to us ,It is when we are weak ,we see the strength of God !
Note: Sometimes you fell you are to weak to make it and God has not came yet ,it could be ,you are not weak enough yet!
Note; he wants you to know beyond a shadow of doubt ,you had no hand in the outcome !
and remembering God in the midst of all things , will help reveal the truth about the one you serve ,

Shall we receive good at His hands, and not evil? Both are orderings of unerring mercy and unfailing love

Job said He gives and he takes away ,bur BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD
WHO MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH!

REMEMBERING LEADS TO TRIUMPH

13  Thy way, O God, is in zthe sanctuary:

aWho is so great a God as our God?

14  Thou art the God abthat doest uwonders:

Thou hast bbdeclared thy strength among the people.

15  Thou hast cwith thine arm cdredeemed thy people,

The sons of Jacob and ddJoseph. Selah

He says ,God’s ways or the path he chooses are in the Sanctuary [ the sanctified place ,sacred place
He reconizes that the way he does things for Hid people are Providential and they a purpose!
what God is doing at all times has a purpose and many times the purpose is kept with Him unless or until he wants us to know!
God allots things to happen and he also allows things to take place but all of them have a purpose for His good pleasure !
who is so great a God as our God, Thou art the God that doest winders !
he ask the rhetorical question ,the one we should always kmnow the answer to !
wh is like God El almighty , strength , as our God [eloheem]
what Strength is like his God and what God can do anything and be everything ?
Thou art The God El ,the strength that does the miraculous.
he saying after all of his contemplating and meditating ,

THERE IS NO POWER LIKE OUR GOD
HE CAN SAY IT ,BECAUSE HE HAS SEEN OR TRIED SOMETHING ELSE BEFORE
BECAUSE HE SAYS ,WHO IS SO GREAT[ ELDER,MUCH,
WHO HAS AS MUCH WISDOM AS ONE WHO HAS BEEN HERE BEFORE EVERYTHING WAS EVER MADE
JUST AS JESUS TALKED TO PEOPLE WHO DIDNT REALLY UNDERSTAND JUST HOW GREAT HE WAS
HE MADE A STATEMENT ,
HE WOULD TEAR DOWN THIS TABERNACLE AND BULD IT BACK UP IN THREE DAYS
THEY SAID ,IT TOOK MANY YEARS TO BUILD THIS TEMPLE ,HOW ARE YOU GOING TO BUILD IT UP IN THREE DAYS
DIDNT RELIZE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF, WOULD
THE ONE WHO IS 33 YEARS OLD IN THEIR EYES BUT HAS BEEN HEAR BEFORE THE FOUNDATION, JUST AS SOMETHING HAD BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME OR TOOK A LONG TIME FOR MEN TO BUILD
HE IS NOT LIKE ANY MAN ,HE CAN BUILD THINGS UP FASTER THAN A MAN CAN TEAR DOWN
NOTE ; THERE IS NO ONE LIKE HIM !
JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING HAS BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME ,DOESNT MEAN ITS NOT GOING ANYWHERE ,
AND JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING SEEMS SMALL DOESNT MEAN ITS NOT STRONG
THINKING ABOUT THE GOD YOU SERVE
YOU SHOULD REALIZE ,THAT ,THERE IS NOTHING GREATER THAN JESUS
HE SHOWED THE WORLD IN THE PAST THROUGH MOSES
THERE IS NO GOVT ,THAT HAS MORE POWER THAN MINE
PHAROAH SAID ,WHO IS GOD ,THAT HE SHOULD LISTEN TO HIM
BUT WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARED HE FOUND OUT ,THE GREAT I AM ..
WAS THE GREATEST POWER
IT WAS IN THOSE TIMES......HE PEOPLE FOUND OUT ,HE IS THE GREATEST PROVIDER
HE DIDNT NEED A CITY .......TO PROVIDE PROTECTION
HE DIDNT NEED A SEA TO HAVE A WATER SUPPLY
HE BROUGHT WATER FROM THE ROCK
TO SHOW HIS PEOPLE ....HE’S ..........THERE .....TO SUPPLY EVERYONE OF YOUR NEEDS

THOU ART THE GOD THAT DOES WONDERS [THINGS THAT ARE AMAZING FOR EYES TO SEE]
HE HAS DECLARED HIS MIGHT [HE HAS SHOWED HIMSELF ON EVERY SCENE
HE SHOWED UP ,FOR MOSES AT THE TRED SEA ,WHEN THEY WERE HUNGRY
HE SHOWED ..........UP .......HE SHOWED UP...........FOR DAVID......AS HE FACED....GOLIATH.....HE SHOWED UP............TO LET US KNOW …THERE IS NO GIANTS …THAT CAN DEFY …THE LIVING GOD
WHAT I LIKE MOST ....HE SHOWED UP FOR ME .....AND HE SHOWED UP FOR YOU ....ON A HILL CALLED CALVERY ...........HE HUNG BLED AND DIED ...........
CAUSING ME AND YOU TO TRIUMPH
WHEN I THNK OF THE GOODNESS OF JESUS AND ALL THATHE HAS DONE FOR ME MY SOUL CRIES OUT
