When Storms Come

Mark 4:35–41 KJV 1900
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Introduction
Many things comes at us in life life
God often sends a warning before destruction
But there are other times when we do not get a warning
We are traveling through this life
Just going about our business
We get up in the mornings
And go about our daily routines
Some of us get ready for work
Some have doctors appointments
Others have no where to go and nothing to do
Yet and still we move about the day
Unaware what may occur at the next moment
Storms of life comes out of no where
A great wind gusts and nearly knock us off our feet
The waves pounds and beats against us
Almost sinking our ship
What is our response?
How are we to respond?
From where can we get strength?
The wind is blowing you can’t take it no more
The waves is beating you can’t handle it any more
The storm is raging you can’t fight it no more
You’re stressed
You’re depressed
And can’t get no rest
What can we do?
Where can we go?
Mama can’t help
Daddy can’t help
Bother can’t help
Sister can’t help
Auntie can’t help
Uncle can’t help
Cousin can’t help
What do you do?
What do I do?
What can we do?
The storm is raging
On life’s ocean and its moving this away
If your soul is not anchored in Jesus
You will surely drift away
When a crisis comes like a storm
The doctor says you have cancer
That’s a storm
When the husband or the wife walks out you
That’s a storm
The children are rebellious
That’s a storm
When your job is downsizing
That’s a storm
The disconnection notice comes in the mail
That’s a storm
When the foreclosure documents are delivered
That’s a storm
Death is raging through your family
That’s a storm
COVID-19 cases continue to increase
That’s a storm
When the economy becomes unstable
That’s a storm
The life of the people is politicized
That’s a storm
Church it’s time now
To Cry out to the Lord
We go to pray
Cry out to the Lord
Jesus carest not that we parish?
Cry out with all your might
You might be in fear, but cry out
You might have doubt, but cry out
Cry out to Jesus.
Abba Father,
King of Kings,
Lord of Lords,
Cry out
The great I am
Mary’s baby
Cry out
Cause when you cry out
Jesus will answer
If you have Jesus on board with you
Wake him up
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding
Give it over to him for He cares for you
Jesus will speak to your situation.
Peace be still
And just like there was a great storm of wind
There be a great calm
When Storms Come
Crisis
Jesus had taught a multitude about faith through parables
One of his examples was a mustard seed
Jesus describe how something so small can grow into something so big
that the birds can take lodge
In other words something that looks useful can develop into something useful
Okay, you might think that your little faith is not enough and unuseful but it only takes a little and it will develop into something big
A little faith develops big ideas
A little faith develops into big actions
A little faith develops into big places
A little faith, A little faith
Now Jesus, went into more detail with the disciples in private
You see if someone really trying to teach you they will take the extra time to with you
They will make sure you understand it
Jesus not only went into detail but now He is going to allow the disciples faith to be displayed
That same day, Jesus said, “Let us go to the other side.”
They sent away the multitude,
they took him even as he was in the ship
The disciples took Jesus with them in the boat.
Stop right there,
If you go anywhere in life, take Jesus with you
If go the Paris, take jesus with you
If you go to Washington, DC, take Jesus with you
If you go on vacation, take Jesus with you
If you to the beach, take Jesus with you
If you go to the mountains, take Jesus with you
If you go to work, take Jesus with you,
If you go to the kitchen, take Jesus with you
They took Jesus as he was in the ship.
There were other little ships
The writer made this significant, if you can’t be in the ship with Jesus
Follow the big ship in your little ship
Follow Jesus with your little faith until can get in the place of big faith.
You might not have the privilege to get into the big ship but you can follow in the little ship
Everybody might not have access to ride in the big ship
But ride as close as you can in the little boat.
Get as close as you can to Jesus
And there arose a great storm of wind
Not any kind of a storm but a great storm of wind
The original Greek text is: lailaps
A hurricane, a furious storm, a tempest
A great lailaps arose,
Out of nowhere, the storm came
The wind blew, and waves beat the ship
Alright disciples it’s time to display what Jesus has taught you
It’s time to exhibit your faith,
It’s time to display your trust,
It’s time to show and not tell,
You say you have faith,
You got all together,
When Storms Come
Cry
We must remember that Jesus got in the ship with us,
When the storm comes,
We have to cry out to Jesus,
When it’s too much for us,
When the wind is too strong,
The waves are too powerful,
You feel like giving up,
You want to throw in the towel,
I can’t take it no more,
I can’t handle it,
It’s too much for me.
I am in depression,
I feel oppression,
And I am about to sink.
Cry out to Jesus
Cast you cares upon him for he carest for you,
Cry out!
Watch this,
If the disciples were in the ship,
How about those that were in the little boats,
You see sometimes when you are in trying to follow Jesus
The storm arise and attempt to blow you off your course
The storm tries to take you out,
The storm will separate you from Jesus,
You must do all you can to stay close
Do all you can to keep the ship in sight
You may not see Jesus,
But you do know that he is on the ship,
Keep the Ship of Zion in focus
The disciples cried out Master carest not that we perish?
Go down into the hinder part, and cry out
Jesus wasn’t in the front,
Jesus wasn’t in the captains quarters
Neither was he in the suite with the ocean view balcony
He was located on the lower level, In the back,
Church we must humble ourselves,
Go down on our knees and cry out
Master, Help us
Master deliver us,
Master it’s too much for us,
Master how can you lay in peace when we are in turmoil,
Master do you not care, we are about to die,
Master too many is catching COVID-19,
Master the Hurricane is coming in our direction,
Master the violence is increasing,
Master the world is turning upside down,
Master do you not care?
Master it feels like your sleep
Master it feels like you don’t care,
Master why are you not doing something to save us,
When storms come
Calm
Jesus arose,
Tell somebody when Jesus hear’s your cry
Jesus arose
Keep crying out to Jesus,
Jesus arose
Don’t stop crying out until Jesus arise
It might be out of fear,
If might be lack of faith,
It might be out of distress
but cry cry cry cry until Jesus hears you.
What I like about it Jesus arose
Three things happened when Jesus arose
He rebuked, reproved and the disciples reacted.
Rebuke
Jesus rebuked the wind
That thing that’s bothering you Jesus rebuked it
The sickness Jesus rebuked it
That heart ache Jesus rebuked it,
That pain Jesus rebuked it
That distressed Jesus rebuked it
That situation Jesus rebuked it
He rebuked it and the great wind is now a great calm
There is peace because jesus rebuked it
There is joy because jesus rebuked it
Text somebody and let them know that problem you had, Jesus rebuked
Kirk Franklin wrote a song that says it’s over now.
I feel like I can make, it’s over now.
Reproof
Jesus reproof the disciples, Why are ye so fearful?
When you have Jesus on the your ship,
You don’t have to fear,
When Jesus is on the ship,
You do have to be afraid,
Why are ye so fearful?
You have Jesus on your ship
Tell somebody I got Jesus on my ship
Never fear when Jesus is here
