TOUGH QUESTIONS

Part 5: Why Should I Go To Church?

Hebrews 12:18-29

Ekklesia = a church, a gathering, an assembly, a congregation

1.) Through Corporate Worship We Encourage One Another.

Hebrews 10:22-25, “…let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith… And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another…”

Hebrews 12:16-17

1 Corinthians 12:12-27, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body... in fact God has arranged the parts of the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be... As it is, there are many parts but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”... If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”

2.) Through Corporate Worship We Enter God’s Presence.

Hebrews 12:18-19, “You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire…”

Hebrews 12:22-23, “But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn…”

Hebrews 12:28, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe…”

Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

Ephesians 2:19, “You are a member of God’s very own family and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.”

Acts 2:42, 44, “They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… All the believers were together…”
