WHERE THE OIL IS MADE

Isaiah 61:1–2 (KJV 1900)

Isaiah 61:1–2 KJV 1900
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; Because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all that mourn;

Hebrews 12:2
Hebrews 12:2 KJV 1900
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

† PRAYER/INTRO

In each and everyone one of us God is working out his plan in our life.
His plan is to make us into a vessel that he alone can use for his glory.
But in order to make us into what he wants of us- there is a deep work that must be done.
Sometimes we think that the work that is needed in our life is just-
A fresh coat of paint. And little bit of polish and we are set.
The work that God does in our life is more than just a spit-shine he is in the business of doing a total make-over!
And in our life God has to work a very deep work in our life to bring our life into alignment with his will.
Since we are by nature carnal creatures: ruled by the flesh,
The moment we get saved until the moment we die it is the work of the Holy Spirit to make out of us what the Lord desires of us.
And This Process Is Not Easy,
It Is Not Quick
And It Is Not Without Tears!
It comes with a pressing!
He takes us thru the olive press
OIL IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
How To Make Olive Oil/
Like the Process that the Lord takes us thru
1. † CLEAN THE OLIVES
2. † CRUSH THE OLIVES INTO A PASTE (OIL BEGINS TO APPEAR)
3. THE PASTE IS STIRRED
4. † THE PASTE IS PRESSED
5. THE OIL IS SEPARATED FROM other impurities
6. THE PURE OIL IS THEN FOUND
In the Old Testament Olive Oil (or anointing oil) had predominantly a religious purpose.
Not only would you pour oil on the head of a high priest, but also this “holy” oil would sprinkle on furnishings in the Tabernacle and used as fuel for lamps/lights-
Oil signified prosperity, blessings, and stability.
Oil had cleansing (sanctifying) properties. (Good Samaritan)
Whenever someone poured oil on someone or something, it meant that the person or object had been set apart by the Lord.
This is why those throughout the Old Testament would anoint both people and objects.
Israel commonly practiced anointing the heads of kings.
That is why when Samuel chose to anoint the least likely of Jesse’s sons, young David - They would’ve understood the implications of Samuel’s actions.
God had chosen the next king of Israel.
In Isaiah 61:1 (and Jesus quoting it later in his visit to the synagogue in his home town of Nazareth)
It shows the clearest association between Spirit and anointing...and anointing was done with oil
We know how the oil was used to anoint “prophets, priests, kings and things...” (“articles in the tabernacle and temple).
When a person or thing was anointed- it was set aside for a Holy PURPOSE...if it was a person then typically the Holy Spirit gave them the POWER to accomplish the Calling of God.
WHO ARE THE ANOINTED?
† Those In The Whom The Anointing Abides
1 John 2:20 (YLT)
1 John 2:20 YLT
And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and have known all things;
† BUT THIS ANOINTING ONLY COMES BY PRESSING
† GETHSEMANE
The night before the crucifixion Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray.
It was at this place that one of his greatest battles was won.
Gethsemane
from Aramaic - the “oil press”
Gethsemane located on the Mount of Olives –
It was the place where olives were taken to be crushed so that “the oil” within could be used for its purpose.
Matthew 26:36 (AV)
Matthew 26:36 KJV 1900
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
† “Jesus came to the oil press (Gethsemane)...to pray...” in
THE PLACE WHERE THE OIL IS MADE.
If we will trust him-
HE will take us to THE PLACE WHERE THE OIL IS MADE
† That Anointing Will match OUR CIRCUMSTANCES!
It is important that we understand the Cross is a place of victory...
not defeat...and we prepare for moment –
IN THE PLACE WHERE THE OIL IS MADE!
GETHSEMANE: THE PLACE WHERE THE OIL IS MADE!
It wasn’t a happy place, but it was a crucial place
It wasn’t a place of joy,
but it was a place of utmost importance.
God will bring us to the place where the “Pressing” is applied and connects us to the power and purpose of the cross!!
1. When we get to the place that only prayer will get me where I need to go...I am in the place where the oil is made...26:36
2. When I FEEL so grieved and distressed that I Might Not See Tomorrow! I’m probably in a place where the oil is made! vs. 37-38
Matthew 26:36–38 (AV)
Matthew 26:36–38 KJV 1900
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
When we are at the place that what wee see as our only path forward is impossible and we are asking the Lord for Any Other Path Than the one in front of us but Heaven is Silent!–
* We are at the place where the oil is made!
Matthew 26:39 (AV)
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
When We discover I have to depend on the prayers from WITHIN us more than the prayers from those AROUND us...
We are at the place where the oil is made!
Matthew 26:40 (AV)
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
When we feel like the weakness of my flesh is greater than the strength of my spirit! –
* We are at the place where the oil is made!
Matthew 26:41 (AV)
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
When no one is willing or able to walk this walk with us...
But the Lord says keep moving forward
* We are at the place where the oil is made!
Matthew 26:46–48 (AV)
Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. 47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
When our friends and family don’t understand the path I am walking on..
* We are at the place where the oil is made!
Matthew 26:53–56 (AV)
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? 55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. 56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
When your friends who once picked you up Now are the ones who again let you down again…
• We are at the place where the oil is made!
† FOR THE JOY SET BEFORE HIM
Hebrews 12:2 (AV)
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Something happened in that Garden-
Matthew 26:39 (KJV 1900)
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
† IF IT BE POSSIBLE, LET THIS CUP PASS FROM ME
The cup that Jesus was referring to was the ultimate sacrifice that he was about to endure at the Cross
Jesus understood the price that he was about o pay-
He understood the pain, the agony and the shame that he was about to endure.
This “cup” was a cup that no human being has ever had to drink. And as well, Jesus did not drink it for Himself, but, instead, for lost humanity.
Matthew 26:39 (KJV 1900)
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
† Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
In other words, even though it may have possible for Redemption to be happen in another manner,
Still, this way was the best way, and, consequently, the Will of the Father, and, consequently, the Will of the Son.
In this moment, we are shown the essentials of consecration, with Jesus setting the example.
The Will of God is all that matters. Anything else is counterfeit!
Consequently, the Father’s Will was the Son’s Will, as it must be our will as well!
That is why the writer of Hebrews said
Hebrews 12:2 (AV)
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
When We are at the place where the oil is made!
it may seem I am praying alone...
We are at the place where the oil is made!
heaven is silent...
We are at the place where the oil is made!
there is no one else that understand our situation...
We are at the place where the oil is made!
and we do not have the strength to make it to tomorrow........
but then....
Then Something Begins To Happen!
there is the Stirring in our spirit
Something begins to stir within our soul
Something begins to seep out of our pain
Something begins to seep out of our pressure
The pressing begins to make sense as the oil begins to come forth
How to make olive oil
1. Clean the Olives
2. Grind/crush the olives into a paste (oil begins to appear)
3. The Paste is stirred
4. The paste is pressed
5. The oil is separated from impurities
6. The pure oil is then found
IT IS THE ANOINTING within me that has been squeezed to the surface of my life...
I may have entered the oil press distressed and grieved...but I will walk out of it with a “joy” for that which is set before me!
† The Oil Press Is A Place Of CHANGE...
We are changed from From “The Pain of the present - to the joy of what lies ahead!
The only way that the oil is extracted is thru that great pressure!
What I first experienced as I Entered the oil press is now behind me!
As I Leave the oil press I walk out with a Joy That was set before me!
Because the Oil is now there!
I AM ANOINTED!
Luke 4:18 (KJV 1900)
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
