The Scripture for today: Psalm 150:1–6 “1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! 2 Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! 3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! 4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! 5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. 6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!”

So, are you seeing the focus of today? Tell the story about Kyle wanting some praise and worship today. Hallelujah.

The place of praise—v. 1 Where can and do we praise our Lord?

We are to be praising our Father as a person.....Verse 1 tells us: “Praise ye the Lord.” We are Not to be praising a religion, a denomination, some man we have heard of but the Lord!

We are given and told the Place, a distinct place to praise God...—“Praise God in his sanctuary.” Note the importance of attending church—Psalm 122:1 tells us: “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” AND Hebrews 10:25 tells us: “ And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

Today we are going to praise Him —“Praise him in the firmament of his power.” He is all-powerful; He is above all; He controls all, He knows all. Is this someone you want to be close to? I do.......

So What is The purpose of praising God?—The Psalmist tells us in verse 2.........

We are to Praise our Lord for His Goodness!—“Praise him for his mighty acts.” Psalm 150:2 “Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! His blessings to us spiritually, physically, materially, the list goes on and on.....

We are to be Praising Him for His Greatness—“Praise him according to his excellent greatness.” His great saving and keeping power.

Let me show you from scripture suggestion on how we are to be praising God..Some methods of praising the Lord:

Psalm 150:3–5 “3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! 4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! 5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals.”

We are to Praise the Lord With TrumpetsPsalm 47:5 “5 God has ascended with a mighty shout. The Lord has ascended with trumpets blaring.”... Psalm 81:3 “3 Blow the ram’s horn at new moon, and again at full moon to call a festival!”

We are to Praise God With Psaltery......So.....What is Psaltery? I am glad you asked... (Definition) a musical instrument, supposed to have been a kind of lyre, or a harp with twelve strings. The Hebrew word nebhel and the Greek word, pesanterin, which is supposed to be a word of Greek origin denoting an instrument of the harp kind.

Psalm 33:2 “2 Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre; make music for him on the ten-stringed harp. Psalm 144:9 “9 I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp."

We are to Praise the Lord With Timbrels.....Psalm 81:2 “Sing! Beat the tambourine. Play the sweet lyre and the harp. Psalm 149:3 “Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp.”

We are to Praise Him with the Harp

Psalm 33:2 “Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre; make music for him on the ten-stringed harp.”... Psalm 57:8 “Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song.” Psalm 98:5 “Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and melodious song,”

String instruments. Various types used in Bible.

Organ (similar to flute) This goes on and on.

Genesis 4:21 “His brother’s name was Jubal, the first of all who play the harp and flute.” Job 21:12 “They sing with tambourine and harp. They celebrate to the sound of the flute.”

...........Sounds to me like God just wants our praise. Anyone beat on a 5 gallon bucket lately?

The practice of Daily praising our Lord...—v. 6

Psalm 150:6 “Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!”

People—“Let everything that hath breath.” If man fails to praise the Lord, the stones cry out in praise—We read in Luke: Luke 19:39–40 “But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!” 40 He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”

Today’s Sermon was focused on Praise—“praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!!!Praise the Lord!!!. Praise ye the Lord.”

In closing this morning, some guidance, some instruction written in Scripture. Praise, like prayer or any other worthwhile habit, must be practiced daily to be successful All Christians should read Ps. 100 often and practice it daily.

Psalm 100 (NLT) A psalm of thanksgiving. “1 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. 3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.” AMEN
