David’s Heart of Worship

Read Psalm 28:1-2, “
1  To you, O LORD, I call;
my rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you be silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the pit.
2  Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy,
when I cry to you for help,
when I lift up my hands
toward your most holy sanctuary.

3  Do not drag me off with the wicked,

with the workers of evil,

who speak peace with their neighbors

while evil is in their hearts.

David was spiritual. Many believers, and even some true believers may be aware of God, and live in that awareness, but still may not resemble the heart that David had. David had mistakes, and major ones, but he was restored. But here we have David again, showing us what dependence on God actually looks like. The thing is, if you establish the purpose of your life, it will already be your choice in difficulty to know what you, in a sense really desire. David calls for mercy, he sees his own sins, and his own situation.
There is a feeling that we can have, that is within our own spirit. That if there are wicked prevailing around us, that we need to get out vision of the glory of God, so that we do not get pulled with them. It is easy to get pulled and it is easy to get swayed. And the devil is the king of the people who do not know God, and he also may strike, and try his best, to get you to fall out of God’s way.
David feared, when he felt the sway of the world. He knew the possibilities of being dragged with sinners. and sinful people.

Regarding God’s Work Is Important

Read Psalm 28:4-5, “ 4  Give to them according to their work
and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
render them their due reward.
5  Because they do not regard the works of the LORD
or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.
David has a very precise eye. He is a leader and many leaders are gifted with natural talent and ability from God to see things that people who are not leaders may not always see. Yet, even the child can lead. So, there are mysteries with God. Even the child can have vision.
But David looked at the people and made a discernment. He saw the hearts of the people. The people who were a threat to his well-being and the well-being of Israel, were people who ignored and did not regard things that God did. His testimony of power, or his testimony of who he is. Which should have led them to repent and to worship God correctly, and give him glory. They would have humbled themselves like David and David would have not seen them as enemies
But when you disregard something of God, it is not ultimately from man. When you disregard a work of God, it means, that hardness of heart takes root. Sometimes that hardness of heart is almost too difficult to uproot or to plow up. When God works, we need to believe, and not be like Pharaoh. We need to trust God, and not be like Israel after God saved them.
We want to be people who God builds, and not who God gives over ultimately to never work in and with again, and only to see before us the pit, with no way of escape.

Regarding God’s Work Is Important

6  Blessed be the LORD!

For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.

7  The LORD is my strength and my shield;

in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;

my heart exults,

and with my song I give thanks to him.

8  The LORD is the strength of his people;

he is the saving refuge of his anointed.

9  Oh, save your people and bless your heritage!

Be their shepherd and carry them forever.

So David, takes his trust in God. And knows that God hears his faith. and God helps David escape. Again, in this situation. And it could be that some psalms were actually written in the same circumstance, but give us an even greater sight of the situation and God’s grace and truth.
David sees that God is faithful to his covenant. God promised, and he will be faithful, and when you know you are part of it. You can engage God, and you can be part of his promise. You can worship him in truth, and power, in the Spirit. And know that you are part of the heritage that he has chosen. And that if you remain in his sway and reliant on him, that he will keep you forever, as it says here, that God will carry his inheritance forever. He will be the strength against the powers of the enemy.
God bless
