The Overcomers
The Overcomers – 1 John 1: 4-9, Rev. 12:7-11
Read the Story of called the Blood.
To the utmost, Jesus saves. To the Utmost Jesus saves.
He will pick you up and turn you around, Hallelujah. Jesus Saves.
Talk about being Guilty.
Guilty: the fact of having committed a breach of conducts especially violating law and involving a penalty; broadly: guilty conduct
2 a: the state of one who has committed an offense especially consciously
B: feelings of culpability especially for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy: self-reproach
3: a feeling of culpability for offenses; meriting condemnation or blame especially as wrong or harmful [1]
The Accuser, Satan has to make us feel as if we are not worthy. Really none of us are worthy.
Guilty leads to imprisonment in our minds
Rom.8:1 there is therefore now no condemnation to them that be in Christ Jesus
The DO-IT-YOURSELF RELIGION/Theology
People will judge you based on what they think they know about you.
They will have you doing things to prove to them that you meet the mark of their view of salvation. It is a form of idolatry in trying to worship man’s measuring stick. Be careful with prosperity preaching.
Then they have us having a form of Godliness but deny the power thereof.
Some of us come to church because it is the thing to do on Sunday morning, without any commitment or serious thought about God one way or the other. We are here out of duty and not to worship God.
That’s why you can’t make people your standard.
Make Jesus your ultimate standard:
1) If you want to know what it is to be a Christian look at Jesus Christ.
2) If you want to live a victorious life, look at Jesus Christ.
3) If you want to know what God is doing in the world and in your life then look at Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the key to all truth about God, ourselves and the world we live in. That is why he said he is the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the father but by Christ. He is the method and the standard.
Your understanding of Jesus is going to determine/shape how far you go in your Christian walk. You do know that there are many gods in the world.
Know your God
Shirley Guthrie writes in Christian Doctrine:
Shared that our understanding of our god shapes our understanding of ourselves, and our understanding of ourselves shapes our understanding of god. When a person talks about what is most important to them, they give away what their god really is (it may turn out to be different from the god I claim to believe in).
If, for instance I understand myself be basically an animal, my god will be something that fulfills what I consider my most essential animal needs: sex, hunger, or self preservation. And my god will in turn shape my life. I will use and sacrifice family, friends, the welfare of the society in which I live-everything- for sexual pleasure, economic security and power. She concludes by saying that my self-understanding will lead me to make a god that demands and receives the sacrifice of anything or anyone who gets in the way.
The Blood of Christ does several things:
There are at least 43 references to the blood of Christ in the New Testament, all testifying to its great importance in the salvation and daily life of the believer.
First it established a New Covenant- where the blood of bulls and goats could only cover my sins the blood of Christ takes away my sins. Every time we take communion we aught to thank God for his sacrifice of his son. Jesus died that I might have a right to life and have it more abundantly
It where we get our Doctrine of Reconciliation and Justification
Rom. 5:9-10 says, “Much more then, having now been justified 1aby His blood, we shall be saved bfrom the wrath of God through Him.
10 For if while we were aenemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved 1bby His life.
[2] Judas the betrayer spoke of it as “innocent blood (Matthew 27:4) and Peter called it “the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (I Peter l:9). It is the cleansing blood in I John l:7 and the washing blood in Rev. l:5, stressing that it removes the guilt of our sins. Paul calls it the purchasing blood in Acts 20:28 and the redeeming blood twice (Eph. l:7); Col. 1:14, see also I Peter l:18-19, Rev. 5:9), thus declaring the shedding of His blood to be the very price of our salvation. Therefore, it is also the justifying blood (Rom. 5:9) and the peacemaking blood (Col. 1:20). Its efficacy does not end with our salvation, however, for it is also the sanctifying blood (Heb. 13:12). There is infinite and eternal power in the blood of Christ, for it is “the blood of the everlasting covenant” (Heb. 13:20). The first reference in the New Testament to His blood stresses this aspect. Jesus said, at the last supper: “This is my blood of the new testament (same as ‘covenant’) which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28). Let no one, therefore, even count the “blood of the covenant. . An unholy thing” (Heb. 10:29), for the blood of Christ is forever innocent, infinitely precious, perfectly justifying, always cleansing and fully sanctifying.
I praise him for the blood. So when people begin to accuse you of wrong tell then you have been washed in the blood.
I know that you praise God for:
We praise him for our house, cars, jobs, families but I praise him for the blood.
What can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh precious is that flow, that makes me white as snow. No other help I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus
There is power wonder working power in the blood of the lamb
Why:
a) The blood removes my past, present and future sin
b) He blood helps me to overcome all accusation
c) The blood is what God sees on my life
You aught to be glad you are saved. I’m saved from my sin
I’m saved from going to hell. I’m saved to overcome.
Overcome means to conquer. More than a conqueror, victorious
Stop the pity party and get over yourself, them and everybody else who don’t like you. Get over you low self-esteem. Get over your pain. Press toward the mark. Remember you are in a race. Be not weary in well doing for you shall reap if you faint not. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. They that wait on the Lord he shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on eagles wings, run and not get tired, walk and not faint.
When that’s not enough, call on God and he will answer prayer. Because when you call him, he is coming with power. Don’ take my name in vain, because when you call my name I coming with everything that he is. You can Andre and that signifies my identity, but you don’t know what I am bringing with me. But when you call God:
a)He’s coming with power
b)He’s coming with glory and majesty
c) He’s coming with healing
d) He’s coming with deliverance
Testimony
I’m a witness to the fact:
That he is good. That he is a savior. That he is a great God and he alone is worthy of my praise. He deserves the entire honor and all of glory forever and ever Amen.
