Construction I.N.C.

Welcome to the construction zone -- God’s construction zone. As you can see and may have heard there has been a lot of work going on here in the past week. We even did some constructing ourselves using blueprints, tape measures, screwdrivers, paint brushes and a hammer and nails. We want to share with you some of the things we have learned, that God has taught us in His Word. We began by learning that…

             I.      God made the world. The writer of Hebrews says that “God is the builder of everything.”

A.    God created the world – not with tools but with His Word. Perfect, Sinless

B.     God made people, not with His Word but with His hands from the dust of the earth. The most special part of creation. He wants to have a relationship with us just as He walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God continues to make us for the Bible says that God “knit me together in my mother’s womb

II.      God care for Us. We learned that God not only made us but that He also cares for us, providing for our every need both spiritually and physically, food , family, places to live, protection and especially a life giving relationship with Him

A.    The Fall into sin, Adam, Eve, and Satan - and its dire effects, pain, sickness and death, broken relationships between each other and with God Himself.

B.     God promised to repair our broken world. Told Adam and Eve that He would send a Savior.

III.      God did as He promised – He sent the Savior Jesus Christ to repair our broken world. Like some people use a hammer and nails to repair broken things, God used a hammer and nails to repair this broken world. Jesus lived a perfect life, taught about God’s love and then was nailed to a cross where he died for the sins of the world. He did not stay dead. The news of the resurrection was first taught to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. They learned that Jesus was the promised Savior and that He must die and then rise from the dead to conquer sin and death in the world. The Bible says, “God has raised this Jesus to life.” Through His death and resurrection, Jesus, our Savior, redeemed us from sin death and the power of the devil. He did this with His holy precious blood and innocent suffering and death when He was nailed to the cross. Now He lives and reigns forever as our Lord.

IV.      Through the story of Zacchaeus we learned that Jesus “loved me and gave Himself for me.” Story of Zacchaeus, Jesus wants a personal relationship with us. That relationship changes our lives. God repaired the world and now He remodels us to serve Him in faith and love.

          V.      Lastly, though our relationship to Jesus is personal, He brings us together to build His Church. No building is made of a single brick. If there was it wouldn’t benefit anybody. The Bible says, In Jesus “you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.” God builds His Church with people bricks, you and me. God builds His Church through us as we share the good news of God’s love.

Conclusion: God is in the construction business. Matter of fact He is here right now constructing us anew through His Word, through baptism and the Lord’s Supper. God’s construction projects always begin and end In The Name Of Christ.  Amen
