How to put on your first piece of armor.

We are being led to put on the full armor of God.
We started by talking about the sword but today we are going to the first piece of armor.
Ephesians 6:13–14 NASB95
13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Gird your loins with truth.

You see this phrase gird up your loins in the bible a lot.
To prepare for something active of dangerous
This is the only place says to gird your loins with truth.
g225 Truth =
what is true in any matter under consideration.
of a truth in reality
This truth pertains to character or nature of someone.
The reality of who someone is.
The bible uses this in comparison to speak truth.
Speaking the truth is to tell what really happened. facts, pertaining to what actually occurs.
Example:
Jesus said let the dead bury the dead. speaking the truth. g227
Jesus character is to lay down His life so the dead will be raised to life. Truth. g225
This truth however is about the truth of who you are and the truth of who He is.
Gird your loins with truth:
To know who you truly are and who He truly is.
Your protecting the place that produces life in your life with the truth.
Especially when you are about to go into a situation that will challenge who you are.
Especially when you are about to have a conflict with someone who is miss understanding you or you are miss understanding.
God is Love and He loves you.
To put on your first piece of armor, you get under and in His love for you.
You let Him tell you who you really are.
How to gird your loins with truth?
Example from last weeks story.
The truth that the coach could see was this kid can learn.
The coach helped this kid see his true character.
The coach knew His own true character.
And was able to help remind the kid of one aspect of his true character.
Being loved is the starting place, to find out specific traits you are that He loves.
Specific traits that are in the image of God.
Unerversual traits
Verses personal traits.
How to gird your loins with truth?
Be with God face to face and experience His love for you.
Remember or hear the details He says about who you are.
Stay in the truth place.
When you feel yourself getting drown away from your true self, come back.
When you feel yourself making assumptions about you or others, come back.
If something bad happens?
Do you question you?
Do you question is God really good?
Girding your loins with truth:
I am good and He loves me.
My heart is to do His will.
Am I missing a way of demonstrating this?
There is no shame behind this way of questioning.
God is good so help me understand this when bad things happen.
Help me find You.
I will know it is You when I see the good and the fruit.
Truth:
A generic go to.
God is good and He loves me.
ALLLLLLL THE TIMEEEEEEEEEEE
Specific:
I can learn
I am brave
I am an original.
I know I really care. I care enough to tell the truth
I am capable.
I see the best in people and know that can be drown out.
I believe in people in spite of their unbelief.
You will know it is aspect of your true self when you smile just thinking about it.
Its not just that He loves you but He loves that part of you.
Closing:
How to gird your loins with truth?
Be with God face to face and experience His love for you.
Remember or hear the details He says about who you are.
Stay in the truth place.
You gird your loins with truth by staying in the place where you know the truth of who you are and who He is.
He is good and He loves you.
What does He specifically like about you?
Remember this in all times of your life
Assignment:
God is Good and He loves me.
Get to that place with Him in prayer or worship.
Name one thing specific about yourself that is Truth.
Practice declaring that about yourself today and this week.
Think of one potential conflict that you will need to gird your loins with truth.
How are you going to prepare yourself in remembering who you are and who He is?
