HOW TO DEFEAT OUR FEARS
“The LORD is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my
life of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)
1.) By Receiving a Light for Darkness
“The LORD is my light…”
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never
walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (John 8:12)
12
and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy
people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us
into the kingdom of the Son he loves, (Colossians 1:12-13)
2.) By Receiving Salvation for Condemnation
“The LORD is my light / and my salvation”
17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through
him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already
because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has
come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. (John 3:1719)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” (Romans 8:1)
3.) By Receiving Strength for Weakness
“The LORD is the stronghold of my life”
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
29
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
(Isaiah 40:29-31)
“…the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
“… in quietness and trust is your strength,” (Isaiah 30:15)
