Isaiah Intro
Before the Throne of God
God’s Glory through Righteousness, Majesty and Holiness — Worship of Him by all angelic beings (Also, Daniel, Ezekiel, John)
Man’s Condition Before God — Utter despair, unworthiness, unbearable, “I am ruined, Undone, Lost and so are my people”
Because I have see the King, The Lord of the Angel Armies
God’s Glory through Grace — Isaiah receives forgiveness. Removal of iniquity and atonement of Sin
Man’s response to grace — Here I am. Send me. Radical Obedience (it cannot be any other way)
We call this Worship
Application:
Does radical obedience (worship) define our lives?
If not, have we seen the True King? in our hearts?
We too can have an encounter with the King, the Lord of the Angel Armies
In Jesus, right here and right now.
Meditate on this passage.
Isaiah’s gospel is the same as our Gospel.
We can come to see God in His Word.
Reading:
Daniel 7:9–18 CSB
9 “As I kept watching, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was white like snow, and the hair of his head like whitest wool. His throne was flaming fire; its wheels were blazing fire. 10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from his presence. Thousands upon thousands served him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was convened, and the books were opened. 11 “I watched, then, because of the sound of the arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued watching, the beast was killed and its body destroyed and given over to the burning fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was removed, but an extension of life was granted to them for a certain period of time. 13 I continued watching in the night visions, and suddenly one like a son of man was coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before him. 14 He was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed. 15 “As for me, Daniel, my spirit was deeply distressed within me, and the visions in my mind terrified me. 16 I approached one of those who were standing by and asked him to clarify all this. So he let me know the interpretation of these things: 17 ‘These huge beasts, four in number, are four kings who will rise from the earth. 18 But the holy ones of the Most High will receive the kingdom and possess it forever, yes, forever and ever.’
Daniel 7:9-18, Rev 4, Rev 5,

Series Intro — A Kingdom Vision
Why Isaiah 6?
Pray
Isaiah’s Vision
Proposition: Seeing God as he is transforms us.
Shows us his Glory in Holiness
Our Sin
His Glory in Grace
Our response — Worship
Worship looks like obedience
Application: The Gospel is for us. A greater revelation than what Isaiah saw.
Jesus is the greater revelation of God
We too can encounter God in Jesus
We too can be radically transformed
Worship is a life lived from and for the glory of God revealed in Jesus Christ.

Further Thoughts

A Kingdom Vision means that there is more going on here than meets the eye.
We have our plans, our understanding, our view of things. But we do not truly see.
What do you think you would see if you could see as God does?
His ways are higher than our ways.
Isaiah 55:8–9 ESV
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
We only see in part:
1 Corinthians 13:11–12 ESV
When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
Isaiah is catapulted out of his everyday reality into ultimate reality.
He is standing before the Throne of God
The same Throne that Daniel saw, Ezekiel saw and John saw in revelation.
What he sees is utterly terrifying.
As a culture we have lost a respect and reverence for a Holy God
But one day, we will all stand before the throne of God as Isaiah did.
And we will experience the utter magnificence and terror of the Only, Holy, Righteous and Living God.
You see Isaiah didn’t know how bad off he really was.
But standing before Perfect Beauty he is utterly undone.
A Kingdom Vision begins by seeing the True King
What is Isaiah’s response?
He has no hope. he has no where to turn.
Yet God comes to him through an angel and does the most magnificent thing.
He forgives his sin.
His Holiness was worthy of Worship
His grace towards us can not be captured by words.
The only thing more Amazing the God’s Holiness is God’s grace towards us.
He invites us in, if we would recieve his grace.
But we too need to confess our Sin our helplessness, our need for forgivness
Righteousness and Purity
despair and discouragment (you are worse off than you ever thought possible)
Grace and Mercy
but you are more loved than you ever dared believe.
Isaiah 1:18 CSB
“Come, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool.

Propositions:

We worship that which we find worthy.
We become like what we worship
