Presentation of Ordination Candidates
District team joins Superintendent Brewer on the platform.
Superintendent Brewer calls Mike Alexander to the platform.
Mike Alexander,
I want to congratulate you on reaching this moment where the Presbytery of the Northern Missouri District has empowered us to confer upon you your Ordination.
May I have your Bible please? (Bible is given to Dr. Paul McDonald)
The Presbytery has followed the Holy Spirit-inspired instructions of Paul to Timothy when he said:
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
You have been tested and found to be reliable man of faith who is qualified to teach others in that faith.
You will now offer your vow of Ordination.
Please repeat after me:
Before God and these witnesses…
I acknowledge that I have been called…
to minister to the Lord and His Church;
I accept this trust…
that God has placed on my life;
I purpose to live my life…
In a manner worthy of this holy calling;
I will avoid any and all circumstances…
that may compromise my life…
in spirit, soul, or body;
Realizing the divine nature of this calling…
I commit my life to its fulfillment.
The Apostle Paul then offered the following admonition to the Ordained:
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word. II Timothy 4:1
Dr. McDonald places the Bible into Mike Alexander’ hand.
For all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:16
The Northern Missouri District Presbytery has recognized that your God-given call to the ministry is both mature and permanent.
You are never again to walk as others walk, for from this time forward you are God’s ordained servant, set aside for His own special work, which we recognize today.
Please place your hands upon the candidates for the conferring of Ordination.
Congregation, will you please stand to join us in our prayer.
And now, let us pray.
[Prayer]
Pastor Paul McDonald, will you now place upon Mike Alexander his ordination mantel.
Mike Alexander, may you always be aware of the mantle of His power and anointing that is upon you.
May you be faithful in fulfilling your God-given call until the day of Christ.
