Keys to Understand
1. Context—Matthew 24:3-14; Sign of Your Coming & End of Age?
Persecuted, many of faith fall away, lawlessness, love cold, gospel, Christ’s return; So Parables deals with Jesus Return and End of Age.
Parable of Fig Tree—reading the times
Parable of Ten Virgins—Needing to be ready
Parable of Talents—How to be Faithful!
2. Journey—travel difficult, long, dangerous; may not return; protect estate/ability
3. Talent—weight, $, 20-years wages (50K=1 million)
Parable—Man journey, servants entrusted, “That Guy” hides?
Long Time, returns and accounting; well done!
Knew—hard man, dishonest man; Not know me! Wicked & lazy?
How be “Good & Faithful,” hear “Well done” in last days?
Kindergarten/stars; Seminary/Broadman Commentaries; Sill…real “Well done!”
RIGHT Perspective—
View of God; Good & Faithful, gifts (millionaires! Grands)
Matthew 25:24; hard man, dishonest man
Everything I have, giftedness, opportunity, breath, guidance; Child of God!
Trust Him for what have, & don't have! Knows me, abilities...opportunities.
RIGHT Personal Character—
Matthew 25:26; wicked, lazy
Worthy of my best;
Well (excellence);
Done (well-started?);
Good (spirit right);
Faithful (dependable);
Servant (committed to His Kingdom!)
RIGHT Purpose—
The reason, motive? The Kingdom of God; Not about this life?
Live forever! Biography, Footnote/Preface.
Don’t be that guy! I don’t seem to fit anymore…actually, never did! Don't hide, invest in His Kingdom!
Not my home…living for the return of the master, hearing of “well done!”
