Read Da BOOK III
It’s the truth
The title of my message today is READ Da BOOK III, its tha truth
Now before we get to far into the message I want to revisit some things from last week.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
As Jesus is revealing that he will be betrayed and says to the one who will be betray him to do it quickly.
And that it is the time for the son of man to be glorified.
Look at
33 “Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’
Now imagine that you have been with this man for 3 years and finially he is talking about his moment of glory.
So with that in mind notice peters words
36 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”
36 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?”
I can’t blame him.. doesn’t jesus say Follow me and ill make you fishers of men?
Now notice Jesus response.
Jesus answered, “Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”
Later!!! What you mean Jesus.. where you going?
37 Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You.”
38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.
The question then becomes where is Jesus going that Peter can not follow?
1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
4 “And you know the way where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
Another good question.
5 insights Jesus gives
1. I Am –
Jesus make it clear that he is the “I am” the ancient “I am” the God that met Moses in the wilderness.
This phrase is used 58 times in the Book of John meaning this only jeusus can rightly define who he really is.
2. I am the Way -
In the is context I am answering the question of how you will know the way. Knowing the way is as easy as knowing Me.
3. The Truth -
ill come back to this one because this is where our focus is
4. The Life –
Jesus is the resurrection and the source of all life including eternal life that He is about to go and prepare a place for the.
5. No one come to the father but by me -
To get to where I am going where my father is where the mansions are you have to go through me.
Now lets look back at number 3
“I am the truth.” John uses this word 24 times.
Remember john 8 to know the truth and the truth will set you free.
Simple that means that Jesus is the source of all freedom.
He is the truth.
In
16 And they sent their disciples to Him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any.
It reads
“Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any.
Jesus you are truthful now lead us to the way of truth
Now the question becomes what is truth?
“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.” Winston Churchill
“Truth, crushed to earth, shall rise again; The eternal years of God are hers; But Error, wounded, writhes in pain And dies among his worshippers.” William Cullen Bryant
I asked Webster what truth was and he said
a (1) : the state of being the case : fact (2) : the body of real things, events, and facts : actuality (3) often capitalized: a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality
truth
“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.” Charles Spurgeon
that’s why we have to know the truth
I love what Mark Twain says
“It's no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.” Mark Twain
“Truth is the most valuable thing we have. Let us economize it.” Mark Twain
“Where I found truth, there found I my God, who is the truth itself.” Augustine
“God never made a promise that was too good to be true.” D.L. Moody
“Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light.” George Washington
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Notice in the beginning was the word… the word was with and was God…
On verse 14 the word became flesh.
The word was with God and was God.
By him all things where made
In him was life and life was the light of men and light shined in darkness
This is referring to jesus Dispelling the darkness and truth dispels all lies.
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
You wanna know real truth
You have to know jesus
You wanna know jesus you have to read da book.
Because the bible is the truth
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
Inspired is the Greek word, theopneustos. Within are two words, Theos meaning God and pneuma meaning spirit or breath.
So inspired would mean God breathed. So all scripture is God breathed. It does not come through human reasoning, but by God’s revelation. And the vehicle or the way of revelation is the Holy Spirit. So man receives God’s revelation by inspiration.
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
For the Word of God.
Notice the word for Word is the Greek word LOGOS which means Devine expression or thought.
So when you think of LOGOS, think of Divine thought of God. God spoken thought. So the divine expression or thought of God is living and active, or powerful.
You cannot separate one from his thoughts. That’s why John 1 says “In the beginning was the Word (thought) and Word was with God and was God.”
God Word is living and it is Powerful; it is God’s expression. It is God breathed.
It is the devil desire to stop us from knowing the truth (jesus)
Having us live in darkness
So he come with his lies
44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
We come from monkeys hahaha
The devil is a lie
“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes” Mark Twain
Jesus tell us in
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.
4 “See to it that no one misleads (deceives) you.
That’s why God gave us the bible..
The only way to guard from deception and lies
Is by reading the Book
The Book book
